Blair White's eyes widened in disbelief when she saw her best friend appear.
"Why did you suddenly come over? Didn't you say you didn't have time recently?"
'Blair really hadn't expected her best friend to show up.'
She was genuinely stunned. The whole thing was certainly startling.
But what was happening now was all so hard to wrap one's head around.
"Of course I had to be here for your hospital discharge. I was just held up by something earlier, that's all. Don't overthink it."
Megan Kane spoke in a rush, but her eyes darted away, not daring to look at the person beside her for fear of being noticed.
Zion Thornton wore an indifferent expression; it wasn't like there was much for them to talk about anymore.
"So, you came. I thought you wouldn't, but it's good that you're here."
Zion Thornton spoke at a measured pace. He truly hadn't expected her to show up, assuming things would be too awkward for them to meet again.
