In the end, Jonathan Thorne got out of the car and just bought a cup of coffee.
He also brought back a cup of milk tea for Zoe Monroe.
"This is all you're having?" Zoe Monroe frowned.
"I'm not very hungry."
They parked in a secluded spot and turned off the lights. Darkness enveloped the car. Even with a light on inside, the surroundings were eerily quiet, enough to make one's heart race.
Zoe Monroe took a couple of sips of the milk tea. It was strawberry-flavored.
It reminded her of that kiss on the snowy night at the villa, and her heart began to beat erratically.
"That night..." Jonathan Thorne began, breaking the silence.
Zoe Monroe's breath hitched. "We were both drunk that night!"
'Her heart hammered in her chest. She was afraid he was going to press the issue.'
This was the first time they had seen each other since that kiss. There were some things they both tacitly understood, but that thin veil between them had yet to be broken.
