As Silas drove, he asked, "Who are you planning to give yourself to?"
Joyce gave a sheepish laugh and looked down, continuing to eat her pastry. "My brother was just talking nonsense. You know we're always joking around. And you know how he is—he's always saying the most ridiculous things."
Silas raised an eyebrow.
'Kian Jacobs, ridiculous? If he's ridiculous, then there are hardly any reliable people left in Northgate.'
"You saw Jasper Quinn today?"
"Huh?" The sudden mention of that jinx caught Joyce completely off guard. Once she processed it, she said, "I went back to the family home with Leo for dinner with Grandma today. I didn't expect him to be there."
"He used to be our family's tutor, so he knows Grandma. He was just dropping by the family home for a visit."
Silas merely nodded, but he turned to give her a long, searching look.
"That's quite a coincidence."
