Zoe Rhodes sat right down in the empty seat across from him, looking more like she was here for a negotiation than a meal.
Both of them wore incredibly serious expressions.
Zane Hawthorne's movements were cautious and hesitant. He probably didn't want to eat, but not knowing how to refuse, he simply endured Zoe Rhodes's stare and took another sip of soup.
Across from him, Zoe Rhodes leaned back in the leather chair with her arms crossed. She put on a fierce expression, looking more intense than a finals proctor.
Zane Hawthorne had little appetite. After two sips of soup, he put down his spoon.
Zoe Rhodes frowned. "Are you done eating?" 'His appetite seems even worse than that stray cat I used to feed.'
"I'll eat in a little while. You should go get some rest."
He lifted his nutritious meal and soup tureen off the tray, leaving her dessert on it and gesturing for her to take it back to her room to enjoy.
