Chapter 90 - Chapter 90: The Ghost’s Masterclass

As the halftime whistle blew at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, the scoreboard read 1-0 (4-2 aggregate). But the true story wasn't in the goals; it was in the cold, hard numbers flashing on the giant screen.

To the casual fan, the possession was nearly even. But Jürgen Klopp, watching from the stands, saw the "Rationality" behind the purple shirts.

Renzo: 57 passes, 97.5% accuracy, 5 key passes.De Bruyne: 46 passes, 91.6% accuracy, 2 key passes.

Renzo wasn't just passing more; he was passing deadlier. While De Bruyne was forced into "Ineffective Possession"—recycling the ball laterally against a wall of purple—Renzo was a vertical surgeon. Six of Fiorentina's eight shots were on target because Renzo's service was "Silver Platter" quality. He didn't just find his teammates; he found them in positions where they couldn't possibly miss.

In the second half, Dieter Hecking went for the "Nuclear Option." He threw on two more forwards, screaming for an all-out assault. But in his desperation, he made a fatal error: he brought on small, agile dribblers to attack a team that had already packed the "bus" in the penalty area.

Wolfsburg began lobbing crosses into the box, but without height, their "Aerial Bombardment" was just target practice for Savic and Badelj. The Bundesliga giants were suffocating in their own frustration.

The final blow came from a moment of pure "Peak State" intuition.

Fiorentina launched a counter-attack. Marcos Alonso sprinted down the left, but Wolfsburg's defensive recovery was elite—they closed the lanes to Salah and Gomez instantly. The counter-attack looked dead.

Then, the "Ghost" appeared.

Renzo drifted toward the left touchline to provide an outlet. Alonso hammered the ball to him. The entire Wolfsburg defense—and even Klopp in the stands—shifted their focus to the left.

He's going to force it to Salah, Klopp thought. Or maybe a chip to Gomez.

Thump.

Renzo didn't even take three steps. Without looking toward the opposite side of the field, he unleashed a cross-field aerial chip.

Klopp's eyes widened. Where is he passing?

The ball traced a majestic arc over the entire Wolfsburg midfield, landing with millimeter precision at the feet of Juan Cuadrado on the far-right wing. Cuadrado was completely unmarked because Renzo had spent the last ten minutes "conditioning" the defense to watch the left.

Cuadrado took one touch, looked at the keeper, and buried the ball into the far corner. 2-0 (5-2 aggregate).

In the VIP seats, Klopp found himself cheering out loud. He wasn't cheering for Fiorentina; he was cheering for his own luck.

Vision is one thing, Klopp thought, his heart racing. But to have the "Big Picture" in your head while you're being hunted in the midfield? That's not a talent. That's a gift.

He looked at the live feed on a nearby monitor and saw his own face—eyes wide, grin stretching from ear to ear. He knew what the world was thinking: How did Brendan Rodgers let this kid leave?

When the final whistle blew, the Artemio Franchi was a sea of purple joy. Fiorentina was headed to the Europa League Semi-Finals.

Kevin De Bruyne walked over to Renzo, his face pale and sweaty. He didn't look angry; he looked humbled.

"Ren," the Belgian said, extending a hand. "I thought the first leg was a fluke. But today... your passing is on another level. It's painful to lose, but there's no shame in losing to the best midfielder in Italy."

Renzo shook his hand, the "Peak State" aura slowly cooling down. "You're world-class, Kevin. See you in the Premier League?"

De Bruyne nodded, a grim smile on his face. "Next time, I'm the one taking the jersey."

As Klopp walked out of the stadium, he was already drawing tactical formations in his head. He had come to scout a "prospect," but he had found his Midfield Core.

"It would be a crime," Klopp muttered to himself as he headed for the airport, "to return him to Liverpool and not make him the heart of everything we do. Sorry, Brendan. You gave away a ghost... but I'm bringing home a King."
