When Venti heard Ren Kai agree, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Shamena, on the other hand, quickly calmed down.
If even she—the most beautiful elf in the forest—couldn't tempt Lord Rexasis, why would she fear a mere fox tribe?
Meanwhile, something shocking had already happened among the beastmen.
The young lion beastman who had been thrown out of the tavern had been brought back to his tribe for treatment.
After waking up, he cried to his father—
Chief Simba of the Lion King Tribe—
describing Shamena's "cruelty."
That very night, Chief Simba convened a Beastmen Council.
The meeting took place in the Foxfolk Tribe, whose chief served as the grand elder.
The final decision:
War against the Elven Forest.
The beastmen had reached the limit of their expansion.
If they wanted further territory, they would have to conquer the Elven Forest.
The young man's incident merely became the perfect excuse.
After finishing breakfast, Ren Kai prepared to depart.
"Shall we leave now, my lord?"
Shamena asked.
"More or less."
Ren Kai glanced suspiciously at Venti.
Did this guy not eat for years?
He had eaten last night too.
"Uh… I'm ready."
Venti quickly swallowed the last bite of meat.
"My lord, please."
Shamena finally displayed the strength of a great mage.
She summoned a magic portal using a mystical artifact.
"Impressive."
"So magic has its merits too."
Ren Kai praised.
"Thank you, my lord."
Shamena smiled brightly and bowed.
Ren Kai stepped through the portal.
Shamena and Venti followed.
They arrived near the Foxfolk City.
A massive stone city appeared before them.
Forests surrounded the outskirts, while a wide road led to the gates.
Before even reaching the city, Ren Kai smelled a strange fragrance.
"What's that scent?"
"That's perfume developed by the foxfolk to eliminate their natural odor."
Shamena explained seriously.
"I see. The foxfolk are quite clever."
Ren Kai chuckled.
"They are."
"And this city is one of the most welcoming places for humans."
Venti added.
"Well then."
"I'll take a good look around."
Ren Kai walked toward the gate.
But the moment they approached—
"Alert! An elf has been spotted!"
A guard shouted from the wall.
Foxfolk guards immediately surrounded Shamena.
"Shamena!"
"You dare come here!"
"And you two pretty boys—today you die!"
The young lion beastman from the tavern appeared on the wall.
"How interesting."
"Are you declaring war on the Elven Forest?"
Shamena asked playfully.
Venti sighed.
This is bad.
Then the youth shouted again:
"Last night the beastmen already declared war!"
"You walked right into our trap!"
"Kill the men—leave the woman alive!"
"I've had enough."
Venti suddenly flew into the sky.
Storm winds wrapped around him like divine armor.
"How can someone be this stupid?"
"This is the price for insulting a god."
A vortex of wind surrounded the youth.
Thousands of razor-sharp wind blades began cutting him apart piece by piece.
The screams lasted three full minutes.
Every foxfolk in the city dropped to their knees in terror.
The wrath of a god often meant destruction.
Finally—
The youth died.
Venti returned to Ren Kai.
"My lord… has your anger subsided?"
Ren Kai frowned slightly.
He was still debating whether to maintain the dignity of a demon god.
"My lord!"
"They've declared war on the Elven Forest!"
"You must stand up for us!"
Shamena suddenly hugged Ren Kai's arm and pleaded.
Her chest pressed firmly against him.
"You make a good point."
Ren Kai smiled wickedly.
Even if it wasn't for the dignity of a god…
Even if it wasn't for Shamena…
For the sake of Madara's pride—
A battle was inevitable.
