"Tanire?" someone breathed near us.
I couldn't care less who had heard my name. I wasn't even sure I would be able to. His words were the least of my concerns.
His voice was no longer Keane's, and it came out layered, as if two voices were speaking through his mouth at once.
"I will take back what you stole from me."
My vision blurred.
The room thrashed out of focus, reality seeming to tear at the seams as a pressure slammed into my consciousness. It was a jagged mess trying to force its way into my essence, my body, my very being.
It felt like I was being dragged toward an abyss.
I heard distant and muffled screaming. Someone was calling my name.
I pushed back as much as I could.
I stole nothing. What was he even talking about?!
"Stay away from me!"
My essence surged, and the pressure shattered.
I stumbled backwards, my head spinning as a ringing sound pierced my ears. Someone gripped my arms, and I immediately came to my senses to find Fashire holding me.
