Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: THE FRAIL ENGINEER

Anubis bowed, his harsh features softening into an expression of cosmic sorrow as he gestured toward the luminous filaments weaving the complex tapestry of human DNA. "Listen closely, Violet, for what I am about to unveil is the truth buried beneath the sands of time, kept hidden so that humanity remains in its slumber."

His voice resonated throughout the throne room like a universal law. "We, and all whom you perceive as the 'Guardians of Civilizations,' are merely instruments executing the Great Creator's engineering. The Anunnaki are the architects of the cosmos, the builders of existence who established the laws to ensure the balance of this dimension. Yet, the discord did not originate from them, but from those who exploited their gifts."

Violet listened, but for the first time, her hands were buried deep in her pockets, her fingers trembling uncontrollably. A profound, crushing realization took hold within her: she was not of this human lineage. She carried the pure code of the 'Engineers' in her veins—a singular race forged for dominion. The weight of that truth felt like a physical burden pressing down on her chest, making it hard to breathe.

As Anubis spoke of the 'Lords of the Planet'—the plunderers of science—Violet felt a wave of nausea. She asked, her voice faltering, her resolve momentarily eclipsed by a cold, stinging fear: "And the humans? Where do we stand in this equation?"

"Humanity today is trapped in a state of low consciousness..." Anubis explained, detailing the vibrational prison.

Violet's eyes widened, not just with understanding, but with an agonizing dread. Is this really what I am meant to shatter? she wondered, a shiver running down her spine. "They have used Earth's people as pawns," she whispered, her voice barely audible, shaking with the sudden, overwhelming terror of her own insignificance.

"Precisely," Anubis affirmed. "You have become the anomaly... the Engineer who shall initiate the rise in frequency."

Violet gripped the ring tightly, but her knuckles were white, and her hand shook so violently that the metal clinked against her skin.

[The Great Transition]

The Great Pyramid trembled. After the surge of energy, as the portal tore through reality and cast them into the dense tropical rainforest, Violet stumbled. She landed heavily, gasping for air, her face pale and damp with cold sweat. She wasn't the majestic figure from the pyramid anymore; she was just a frightened woman clutching her arms to stop her body from shaking.

When the Mayan Chieftain received them in his hut, the air was thick with ancient incense, but Violet could barely focus. She stood slightly behind Maximilian, her shoulders hunched, trying to hide how much her legs were failing her.

As the Chieftain gestured to the ring on the stone table, a pulse of divergent energy hit Violet like a physical blow. She staggered, grabbing the table for support, her breath coming in ragged, shallow gasps. She looked at the ring, then at her companions, her eyes wide with a frantic, human vulnerability.

She turned to her companions, but her voice wasn't commanding anymore—it was desperate, thin, and wavering. "Remember," she murmured, her lower lip trembling as she forced herself to look at them, "in this dimension, betrayal is the sharpest blade, and they hunger for my blood... I don't know if I can do this."

As Zak watched the shadows outside, where the warriors' tattoos began to flicker with a faint, crimson light, Violet huddled closer to the table, her eyes darting toward the dark corners of the hut. The path ahead was paved with secrets that might demand the ultimate price, and for the first time, the terror in her eyes was not for the world—it was for herself.
