Chapter 48: Shadows and Silk (R-18)
The door to Kaelith's chamber clicked shut behind us.
The sound echoed in the sudden, heavy silence.
I carried her as her legs were wrapped around my waist and her arms looped around my neck.
Her scent, which was mixed with night air, leather and a unique, spiced sweetness, filled my senses.
Her room contained only a bed, a weapon rack, and a small chest for her belongings.
It was a room for a weapon, not a woman.
She was a warrior.
Tonight, I would change that.
I laid her down gently on the bed.
Her dark hair were fanning out against the pale sheets like a spill of midnight.
She watched me.
Her chest rising and falling rapidly.
Her dark eyes burning with a mixture of defiance and raw, undisguised need.
She had been tested, dominated, and now she was waiting for her prize.
"You look like a hungry vixen ready to pounce on her prey," I murmured with my low rumble voice, as I knelt on the edge of the bed.
