Chapter 34 - One Flow, Two Paths

The moment didn't break.

It deepened.

Snow spiraled through the air—

Caught between movements too fast to follow.

Haruki stepped forward.

Not alone.

Not anymore.

Behind him—

Karin adjusted her stance.

Not waiting.

Not questioning.

Watching him.

For the first time—

She wasn't leading the flow of battle.

She was following it.

Following him.

"…Karin," Haruki said quietly.

"…Yeah?"

"…Stay close."

A small smirk crossed her face.

"…Don't slow down then."

The creature moved.

No warning.

No pause.

It lunged.

Haruki stepped in.

Not back.

Forward.

Their clash exploded into motion.

But this time—

Something was different.

Haruki didn't just react.

He directed.

A shift to the left—

Karin followed.

A feint forward—

She adjusted instantly.

No words.

No hesitation.

Just understanding.

The creature attacked from above—

Haruki blocked—

"…Now."

Karin moved.

Perfect timing.

Her strike came from the blind spot—

The creature twisted—

Barely avoiding it.

"…It's reacting to both of us," Karin said.

"…Good," Haruki replied.

Another exchange.

Faster.

Sharper.

But now—

There was rhythm.

Not predictable.

But shared.

Haruki moved—

Karin complemented.

Karin attacked—

Haruki reinforced.

Two flows—

Becoming one.

The creature adapted.

Of course it did.

But it couldn't focus on just one of them anymore.

Its movements became sharper—

But also more divided.

Haruki saw it.

Felt it.

"…It's splitting its focus…"

"…Then we push it harder," Karin replied.

Haruki nodded.

He stepped forward again.

Faster.

More aggressive.

The creature met him head-on.

Their clash echoed sharply—

But this time—

Karin was already moving.

Her strike came immediately after his.

No delay.

No gap.

The creature blocked one—

But not both.

Its form flickered.

"…That worked," Karin said.

"…Again," Haruki replied.

They didn't slow down.

Didn't stop to think.

They moved.

Together.

Attack—

Follow-up—

Counter—

Reposition—

A seamless flow.

The creature began to fall behind.

Not completely.

But noticeably.

For the first time—

It wasn't adapting fast enough.

"…We're pushing it," Karin said.

"…Not enough," Haruki replied.

He could feel it.

The limit approaching.

Not the creature's—

Theirs.

Their coordination wasn't perfect.

Not yet.

There were still gaps.

Small.

But real.

The creature found one.

Instantly.

A sudden shift—

A break in rhythm—

And it struck.

Karin reacted—

But she was a fraction too slow.

The attack grazed her shoulder—

Forcing her back.

"…Karin!"

"I'm fine—!"

But Haruki saw it.

That moment.

That hesitation.

We're still not fully in sync…

The creature pressed forward.

Relentless.

Haruki stepped in again—

Blocking its advance.

"…Stay with me," he said.

"…I am," Karin replied.

But this time—

Her voice was sharper.

More focused.

She wasn't just following anymore.

She was aligning.

Haruki exhaled.

"…Then don't think."

A pause.

Brief.

"…Same to you," she replied.

The creature attacked again.

Faster.

Stronger.

But this time—

They moved differently.

No lead.

No follow.

Just—

Flow.

Haruki stepped in—

Karin moved at the same time.

Not after.

Not before.

Together.

The creature struck—

They split—

Repositioned—

Countered—

All in one motion.

No hesitation.

No delay.

Perfect timing.

The impact hit clean.

The creature staggered—

Its form flickering violently now.

"…That's it!" Karin said.

"…Keep going!"

Haruki nodded.

They pressed forward.

Relentless.

Every movement—

Connected.

Every action—

Supported.

The creature adapted again—

But it was too late.

It couldn't keep up with both of them moving as one.

"…We've got it," Haruki said.

"…Then finish it," Karin replied.

The final exchange began.

The creature lunged—

Haruki met it—

Karin followed—

A simultaneous strike—

The creature tried to counter—

But there was no opening.

No gap.

No weakness.

Their attacks landed.

Clean.

Precise.

The creature's form shattered—

Not explosively—

But quietly.

Like something—

Finally breaking apart.

Silence fell.

The snow settled.

The air stilled.

Haruki stood there.

Breathing steadily.

Not collapsing.

Not overwhelmed.

Just—

Standing.

Karin exhaled sharply.

"…That was… something."

Haruki nodded slightly.

"…Yeah."

Raizen stepped forward.

For the first time since the fight began.

"…You've learned," he said.

Haruki looked at him.

"…A little."

Raizen's gaze shifted between both of them.

"…Not just you."

Karin smirked.

"…Took you long enough to notice."

Raizen didn't respond.

But there was no need to.

The result spoke for itself.

Haruki looked down at his hands.

No trembling.

No instability.

Just control.

Not over his power—

But over himself.

"…This isn't the end, is it?" Karin asked.

Raizen shook his head slightly.

"…No."

Haruki's eyes narrowed.

"…Then this was just the beginning."

Raizen's gaze sharpened.

"…Exactly."

The wind picked up again.

The forest shifted slightly—

Almost as if responding.

And somewhere—

Far beyond what they could see—

Something else was watching.

Something stronger.

Something waiting.

Haruki felt it.

Not as a vision.

Not as a prediction.

But as certainty.

"…Then we'll be ready," he said quietly.

And this time—

There was no doubt in his voice.
