The morning came far too quickly for Dron.
He hesitated opening up his eyes only for a moment, and then he realized when he did, he would be able to see Tempest again.
His eyelids burst open like a spring.
He didn't want to miss even one minute with her. Didn't want to miss one minute of seeing her perfect face. How he would miss this.
Dron ground his teeth hard so as to not make any noise. He didn't want to wake her up and have her face the stressors that would be the day. He knew the moment she woke up she would be worried about what he had to do to get ready to leave her. Right now, as she was sleeping, he could pretend that this was all a bad dream. That in a few hours' time he wouldn't have to walk out of her life for what might be forever.
Dron knew all there was to know about war, he was the silver mark chief for a reason, but he also knew the high royals would stop at nothing to save face even if it meant sending him off to an unwinnable battle.
