Life doesn't always announce when something important is happening.
Sometimes… it just quietly changes you.
And that's exactly what was happening to Aarav.
At first, Meera was just a visitor.
Then she became a regular.
And now…
She had become a part of his life.
Aarav didn't notice when his routine changed.
Earlier, he used to open the bookstore and focus only on work. But now… his eyes would automatically drift toward the door every few minutes.
"Will she come today?"
"Why is she late?"
"Did something happen?"
These questions slowly started living inside his mind.
One afternoon, Meera didn't come.
Aarav told himself it didn't matter.
"She's just a customer," he thought.
But the clock felt slower that day.
The silence felt heavier.
And the bookstore… felt empty.
The next day, when she finally walked in—
"Sorry, I'm late," she said casually.
Aarav looked at her for a second longer than usual.
"It's okay," he replied.
But inside… something relaxed.
Something he didn't even realize was tense.
Days turned into weeks.
Their conversations became deeper.
They no longer talked just about books.
They talked about life.
Dreams.
Fears.
Regrets.
"What do you want in life?" Meera asked one day.
Aarav thought for a moment.
"Peace."
"That's it?"
"That's enough."
Meera smiled softly.
"You don't dream big, do you?"
"I used to," Aarav said quietly. "Not anymore."
Meera didn't push further.
She understood.
One evening, the rain started again.
It had become their thing now—rain and conversations.
Meera stretched her hand out of the window, letting the raindrops fall on her palm.
"Do you think people can change?" she asked.
Aarav looked at her.
"Yes."
"Really?"
"Yes," he said. "But only when they meet someone who makes them want to."
Meera looked at him… for a long moment.
And for some reason… neither of them spoke after that.
That night, Aarav sat alone in his room.
For the first time, he admitted something to himself.
"I think… I love her."
The words felt strange.
New.
Scary.
But also… right.
He didn't know when it happened.
Maybe it was the way she smiled.
Maybe it was the way she understood silence.
Maybe it was the way she made him feel alive again.
Or maybe…
It was everything.
Days turned into months.
Aarav found himself waiting for Meera.
Waiting for her laughter. Waiting for her voice. Waiting for the way she made everything feel… alive.
He didn't realize when it happened.
But he had fallen in love.
Deeply.
Silently.
And hopelessly.
