(Jay's POV)
The morning sun was bright, but my stomach was even brighter because it was full of Keifer's delicious cheesy pasta from last night. I woke up stretching like a happy cat. Yesterday morning , I had pretended to still not recover my memory just to pull his leg. It was the funniest joke ever, even though Keifer almost cried. Now, he was back to being my super sweet, ultra-handsome, and incredibly worried fiancé.
"Wifey, you need to eat your breakfast slowly," Keifer said. He was standing by the bed holding a tray. He looked like a model in his expensive black suit.
He had to go to company today. Because of my recent car accident, neither of us had stepped foot in our office buildings for days.
Work was piling up like a mountain. Today, Keifer absolutely had to go to the company to sign papers and manage the big merger.
"I want to come with you!" I pouted, kicking my legs under the blanket. "I can sign papers too. I am a boss lady!"
Keifer sat on the edge of the bed and touched my cheek with his warm hand. He was the biggest gentleman in the world, always treating me like a fragile glass doll. "No, wifey. You were not well for the past few days. The doctor said you need rest. I do not want to put any pressure on your beautiful brain."
"My brain is perfectly fine! I remembered you were my chef, didn't I?" I giggled.
Keifer sighed, a small smile breaking on his handsome face. "Yes, you teased me to death. But today, you stay here. I want you to behave nicely and promise me you will not go outside." He leaned in closer, his dark eyes locking onto mine with total seriousness. "I am going to call you every ten minutes to check up on you. If you do not answer, I will leave the meeting and fly back home."
"Ten minutes? Are you my fiancé or my bodyguard?" I laughed.
"Both," he said softly, kissing my forehead. He gave me one last stern look, adjusted his tie, and finally walked out of the door to act like a responsible, powerful CEO.
As soon as the front door clicked shut, I leaped out of bed. It was time for freedom! First, I ate the breakfast he made. It was perfect eggs and toast, but it was not enough to satisfy my giant sweet tooth. I walked over to the kitchen and pulled open the massive refrigerator. My eyes went wide.
" Jackpot!" I screamed to the empty house.
The freezer was completely packed with tubs of chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla ice cream. Keifer must have bought all of this to make me feel better. I grabbed a giant spoon and a tub of double chocolate. I sat right on the kitchen counter, swinging my legs and eating ice cream endlessly. It was cold, sweet, and perfect.
I was right in the middle of taking a huge bite when my phone buzzed loudly on the counter. I looked at the screen. The timer in my head said it had been exactly ten minutes. Keifer was not joking.
"Hello, my handsome CEO," I said, licking ice cream off my lip.
"Wifey," Keifer's deep voice came through the speaker.
He sounded like he was walking down a busy hallway. "Are you resting? Are you in bed?"
"Uh, yes! Totally in bed," I lied, looking down at my feet dangling off the kitchen counter. "Just thinking about how much I miss you."
"I miss you too," he said, and I could hear the smile in his voice. "I am entering the boardroom now to sign some very important documents for companies. Stay safe. I will call you back in ten minutes."
"Okay, bye-bye!"
I hung up and took another giant scoop of chocolate ice cream. Being a billionaire's wife-to-be was a very hard job, but someone had to do it. I finished the first tub and opened a strawberry one.
Ring! Ring!
I checked the clock. Wow, ten minutes went by fast. I answered the phone again. "Miss me already?"
"Always," Keifer replied. This time, his voice was a bit more relaxed. "The first round of signing is done. What are you doing now, Jay?"
That was my cue to start yapping. Once I start talking, I cannot stop. "Oh, Keifer, you won't believe it! I am eating the strawberry ice cream now. It is so good. But it made me think about the pasta from last night, and then I thought about how cool it would be if we invented an ice cream that tastes like cheese pasta! Wait, no, that sounds a bit dirty and weird. But listen, the weather outside looks a bit cloudy. Do you think the clouds look like giant scoops of vanilla ice cream? I think they do. Also, I saw a bird outside the window and it looked at me like it wanted my ice cream, but I said no way, buddy, this is Keifer's gift to me—"
I went on and on for five whole minutes without stopping for air. A normal guy would have hung up or told me to shut up. But Keifer? He just kept listening. I could hear his soft chuckles over the phone. He loved when I talked so much. To him, my loud mouth was the best proof that his real, happy wife was fully back after the scary accident.
"You are adorable," Keifer said when I finally paused to breathe. "But I have to go now, wifey. I have a very big, important meeting with the board of directors about the merger. This one might last quite a long time. I will not be able to call you for the next ten minutes. Do not do anything mischievous while I am gone."
A second later, a text message popped up from him: I mean it, Jay. Stay inside. I love you.
I stared at the text message, and a slow, mischievous smirk formed on my face. My lips curled up into a wicked smile. Keifer was going to be stuck in a boring meeting for an hour or more. He could not call me every ten minutes anymore. This meant the tiger was away, and the little mouse could play!
"What should I do?" I muttered to myself, tapping my chin. "Should I dye the neighbor dog pink? Should I online shop for a helicopter?"
Just as I was planning my ultimate mischief, the loud sound of the doorbell echoed through the mansion.
I paused. We had top-tier security. Normal people could not just walk up and ring our doorbell. I ran to the front hallway and checked the security camera screen by the door.
A girl was standing outside. She was wearing bright, flashy clothes, huge sunglasses, and had a giant grin on her face. My brain spun for a second as I tried to remember where I had seen that face before. Suddenly, a memory flashed in my mind.
"Savannah?!" I gasped.
I quickly opened the massive front door. The girl threw her arms in the air and screamed, "Jay! Oh my god, it is really you!"
Savannah was a wild girl I met years ago during HVIS era. You remember right??
It was a legendary night. We had danced on tables, drank way too much soda and juice, and laughed until our stomachs hurt. That was the time keifer had pretended to break my heart and blah blah blah!!!
We had the absolute best time together, but we lost touch after that night.
"Savannah! What are you doing here? How did you even find my house?" I asked, my eyes wide with shock.
Savannah laughed loudly, stepping inside the house without even being asked. She looked around at the marble floors and gold decorations. "Wow, you hit the jackpot, girl! Well, after that night in the Philippines, I could never forget you. You were the life of the party! I vowed to track you down. I spent years doing hard work, searching through social media, asking people, and tracking your name everywhere. Finally, I found out you lived here in London!"
"You tracked me for years?" I asked, a bit amazed and a bit amused.
"Yes! And I heard you had a little accident, so I came to check on you. But look at you, you look perfectly fine!" Savannah grabbed my hands and started jumping up and down. "I want to spend time with you right now. We need to celebrate that you are alive and well. Let's go out!"
"Oh, I can't," I said, remembering Keifer's serious face. " Keifer, told me I must stay home. He is a grumpy and very strict when it comes to my safety. He will flip his suit if I leave."
Savannah rolled her eyes and waved her hand dismissively. "Oh, please! Since when does the wild Jay listen to a boy? And don't tell me he is the same playboy I warned you about! It is just for a little bit. There is an amazing daytime club right here in London. Just an hour of dancing and fun, then I will bring you right back. He will never even know!"
I looked back at the kitchen where the empty ice cream tubs sat. Then I thought about Keifer sitting in his boring meeting, looking at charts and graphs. Savannah was right. I was a CEO too! I could make my own choices. A little dancing would actually be good for my brain recovery, right?
"Let's do it," I said with a giant grin.
I did not even change out of my comfy clothes. Savannah grabbed my wrist, and we ran out of the house like two teenagers escaping school. She had a sleek sports car waiting outside. We hopped in, the engine roared to life, and we sped away towards the loud, exciting music of the London club scene. Keifer's ten-minute peace was officially over, and my wild adventure had just begun.
What about Keifer gurl?? 😭😭
