Chapter 68 - Chapter 68: It Was Evan

The exam leak hadn't been caused by hacking.

Someone had simply copied the files directly.

The realization made every lecturer's expression turn grim.

Because it meant—

Everyone in the faculty office was now a suspect.

For a moment, the atmosphere grew tense, and some of them couldn't help but resent Riley.

The matter had already been "resolved", yet she insisted on digging it back up—dragging everyone into it.

One by one, the lecturers began defending themselves. They all claimed they had never touched Ethan's computer. Each system had both internal and external network passwords, and even personal folders were protected. Without the owner's permission, it would've been impossible to access those files.

Ethan clenched his jaw. "The papers were leaked from my computer. I'll take responsibility and resign. There's no need to investigate further."

His restrained expression made it hard not to sympathize with him.

The other lecturers immediately spoke up in support.

"We all trust Mr Harper. He's worked here for over ten years without a single mistake. Someone must have targeted him deliberately!"

"That's right! Mr Harper, we'll all vouch for you."

At that point, it almost made Riley seem unreasonable—like she was pushing too hard.

But Riley only smiled faintly, her gaze calm.

"Mr Harper, there's no need to rush. Everyone trusts your character." She tilted her head slightly. "So why not just check the surveillance footage? Wouldn't that show who entered your office?"

"Exactly!" someone from Class Seven shouted. "Otherwise, they'll just pin it on us again! We support the pretty classmate—find the truth!"

The rest of the Class Seven students quickly echoed in agreement.

Ethan lifted his head, his expression turning cold, his eyes shadowed.

Nearby, Evan swallowed nervously.

He hadn't expected Riley to be able to uncover even this.

But then—

Checking the cameras? Fine.

One of the cameras in the faculty office had been broken, and the other had been blocked by me beforehand.

There was no way they could catch anything.

With that thought, he relaxed slightly.

However, the next second, the crystal-clear footage on the screen stopped him cold.

In the hallway outside the faculty office, Evan could be seen dragging a stool over and covering one of the cameras with clothing. After finishing, he slipped into the office.

Riley smiled lightly. "Oh, I noticed a couple of cameras on campus weren't working earlier, so I fixed them. Didn't expect to capture something… this interesting. My apologies, Evan."

Evan's face turned deathly pale.

Under the weight of everyone's gaze, he stammered, "I—I didn't—I just went in to retrieve some student council documents for stamping…"

Even as he spoke, his explanation sounded weak.

Frustration flared in his chest, and his tone suddenly hardened. "So what if you caught me blocking the camera? That doesn't prove I stole the exam papers! I'm a third-year student—why would I need first-year exam questions?!"

For a moment, it almost sounded convincing.

But Riley calmly pressed a key.

The footage switched.

Now, the scene inside the faculty office appeared on the screen.

In the video, Evan hurried inside, shut the door, and rushed to Ethan's desk. He powered on the computer, pulled out a USB drive, and quickly copied the files before leaving just as fast.

Silence.

The entire lecture hall fell into stunned quiet.

Everyone stared, wide-eyed, unable to believe that the so-called "model student" Evan had done this.

Riley's voice broke the silence again, calm and almost casual.

"Oh, by the way—the broken cameras I fixed? They just happened to be the ones in the faculty office."

She tilted her head slightly.

"No need to thank me. I was just helping out."
