Chapter 13 - Great harvest

Inside a exquisitely built small cabin deep in the forest on the outskirts of Axel City.

"Sir Rowen!!, Sir Rowen!!" an elite goblin dressed in shiny plate armor and a sword at his waist entered through the door making a ruckus.

The other elite goblins inside the cabin turned their heads to look at this guard, one of them frowned while the other stood up, "Hmph... guard, what the fuck are you doing?!!" he exclaimed, but, before he could continue, the guard kneeled before lowering his head.

"Sir Rowen, surveillance squad number 30 under the command of Gobzu has disappeared!!" the guard exclaimed with concern.

There was a slight moment of silence, the two goblins, one of them Sir Rowen, exchanged glances before nodding, "I apologize for the commotion, Sir Busk, I must take care of some business."

Busk, an elite goblin who had reached a new class, tilted his head before smiling, "There is no need to apologize, these things happen from time to time." He got up from the table before patting the guard on the shoulders and left.

"Tell me, what happened?" after Rowen's question, the guard began to explain what had happened.

The guard, in fact, was not present at the time of the events when they happened, simply, each surveillance squad had a leader who in turn rode a mammoth equipped with a collar that held a recording gem.

Some goblins in charge of checking these recordings from time to time saw the reason why surveillance squad 20 was killed earlier, attacked by a group of human adventurers from Axel City.

"This is already the tenth surveillance squad killed by adventurers," Rowen let out a heavy sigh before stomping the ground hard.

"Miserable sons of bitches!!" he let out a yell before kicking the table in the room. The guard who was still kneeling after giving his report began to tremble as sweat ran down his body.

"The other commanders want us dead, it is a miracle they have not sent elite adventurers to hunt us down yet..." he lamented before dismissing the guard with a wave of his hand.

In Axel City the next day.

Inox watered the plants on two large shelves, stacked in rows of five with small sprouts coming out of the compost, his wooden watering can had been completely outgrown by this point.

He let out a heavy sigh when he had to go out again to the inn's water tank to fill his watering can and return to his room to continue watering his plants for the fourth time.

"Isn't it too much?" he asked himself as he felt how each pot consumed around five total liters that stayed inside the compost, nor was there water overflowing from the pot or falling into the water catcher beneath it.

The watering can of barely ten liters capacity was enough to water two plants before emptying completely, Inox made a mental note to buy another watering can before finally finishing soaking his plants.

Each shelf had ten pots on it, five in each row, he had specifically chosen shelves whose trays for the plants to rest on had plenty of space from one another.

Not for any special reason, but because he thought the more space a plant had, the better.

"Hehehe," he let out a light laugh before passing his hand through the small rainbows that appeared around each plant after watering them.

"Does this have any power?" he asked himself passing his finger through a small rainbow, then he shook his head and headed to the table where two pots with Grade 1 papayas and a random Grade 2 corn were about to ripen.

"If this were in my past life, it would surely be a mini version of the original fruit," Inox touched the Grade 1 papayas the size of large tomatoes hanging from the papaya plant no taller than one meter.

The plant with ears of corn was no better, its corncobs barely reached the size of a medium tomato while the stalk, just like the other plant, was no more than one meter tall.

Then Inox rested his gaze on an empty pot not far away, he had bought a pot one meter wide, one meter long, and half a meter tall along with high quality compost specifically for the Grade 2 living watermelon.

"Tsk, should I?" Inox wondered, after all, this was his first Grade 2 seed, and it was a living plant seed, "Is it possible to transplant a Grade 2 watermelon to farmland once planted in a pot?" he asked.

"System?" but he got no response.

Inox checked the description of living plants in the system again, but that did not help, "Ambiguous," he whispered upon reading that description.

In fact, everything in the system was ambiguous, he had to figure it out entirely through trial and error.

But, "A Grade 2 seed, and it is a living seed, a single level below primordial seeds..." he was not sure about planting it in a pot, even in one so large and with high quality compost.

"I should..." after thinking about how he almost died at the hands of some disgruntled kingdom employee, Inox finally made up his mind.

He took the seed out of the system and saw it appear in the palm of his hand, it shined with a particular greenish tone, it was the size of a tooth while just being near it made one smell a strong forest scent.

Inox left it on the nearby table and began to prepare the pot, he poured several bags of compost inside, carefully stacking the compost to cover every space, he also added some fertile soil he had gathered from the outskirts.

That soil had grass mixed in, the stones, even the smallest ones, had been removed, and he mixed that soil with the compost in a fifty, fifty ratio.

Finally he left a large space in the middle with at least twenty centimeters of soil underneath, carefully placed the seed, and began to cover it with the soil and compost mixture.

"Now, hahahaha," he let out a loud laugh upon seeing the wooden watering can, he made at least four trips before feeling that the mixture in the pot was completely wet, "40 damn liters..." he muttered softly, wiping the sweat from his forehead.

He lay back on his bed after a day of work without noticing that a rainbow, which should have been multicolored but shined with dark to light green tones, appeared inside the pot after a few minutes.

A few days later.

KnockKnock A sound made Inox open his eyes, before he could stretch sleepily he heard another noise in his mind.

"The Papaya plant has fully matured and a new quest has been issued: 'Papaya Party', have at least 5 people taste the papaya, reward: Ten Grade 1 papaya seeds"

"The random Corn plant has fully matured and a new quest has been issued: 'Corn Party', have at least 10 people taste the corn, reward: Ten random Grade 1 corn seeds"
