She struggled to regain consciousness after a few minutes and made up her mind to escape from this place.
The cave was not big and she was only at the entrance but when she looked at the exit only inches behind her, she felt like it would take months to reach it.
The feelings of discomfort she felt only got worse when felt a very gentle breeze brush past her.
Every single cell in her body was screaming at her to get out of this place.
'RUN' 'LEAVE THIS PLACE'
But she could not move an inch.
Her body felt unbearably heavy, as if all the burdens in the world were on her shoulders.
Despite realizing her position and the danger she felt, she still could not take a single step forward or backward.
It didn't help that she had lost one of her eyes meaninglessly after stepping foot into this haunted cave. The piercing pain she felt from her eye socket helped her keep her sanity in place.
There was a slight shift in the air as the oppression in the cave got heavier, with shaky breaths, she held her tears back from rolling down her cheek.
She lifted her little head forward and bravely watched the shadows condensing around the carved stone.
There was a stabbing pain in her remaining eye but she ignored it. When she observed 'IT' she turned her body around and escaped with all her might.
She felt her mind escaping her as she ran past the cave's entrance with everything in her tiny body. She bit her lips fiercely to gather her drifting mind and focused all her energy into running.
It was as if an uncountable amount of people were constantly screaming in her mind. She didn't dare comprehend what the shouts were, she just focused on running past the trees.
With the adrenaline pumping through her veins, she ran even harder without realizing that the forest she was running through was not the same as the one she knew.
She came to a stop after she felt safe enough to do so, she was already at a safe distance from the cave after running for what felt like hours.
The pain hit her all at once. Every single muscle in her body ached, there was a sharp pain in one of her eye sockets and the harsh tear in her lips burned.
She felt her head spinning now that she had the time to listen to wails in her head. Her little body trembled harshly as she tried desperately not to comprehend what the wailing sounds meant.
That was because she saw….
She held back the scream that she was about to let out and curled in on herself to the floor, her small body shaking, as if her mere presence would alert the lurking shadows.
'Ggrrrrrrrrr' she froze at the sound.
What…..
As she slowly turned her head around, she saw a huge creature lunge at her.
She only realized she had taken flight when she felt herself dashing madly through the woods.
A claw appeared at her front and slashed at her hands.
The claw sliced through her arms and left a gaping wound. Even with the immense pain she was feeling, she refused to stop.
Turning her head slightly to check where the monster was, she realized it had disappeared from her sight but that didn't stop the fear she was feeling.
She never knew such monsters existed and she was desperate to escape its clutches.
She knew that even if it was not visible, it was still lurking around her, circling her as she ran. It was merely playing with its prey before it caught her and ate her up. From time to time as she ran, it would appear and slash at her before disappearing.
Her body was covered in fresh wounds and blood flew everywhere as she ran but she did not stop for a moment's breath.
Even when she felt her lungs almost give out, she did not stop.
Even when she felt her legs almost break, she did not stop.
Even when she felt light headed from blood loss, she did not stop running.
It was painful, unbearable and she wondered why this was happening to her.
Why was she experiencing this?
That's right…
She was looking for help so she could properly send her mother off. No matter what she had to do, she would return to her mother and give her a proper send off before following after her. She decided.
Maybe the monster finally got tired of playing with her, while she was running it finally appeared in front of her, causing her to crash into it and come to a sudden stop.
Coming to her senses, she hastily moved her body backwards.
She took the monster that played with her into sight, it was a huge fox with three heads and nine claws. It was about forty feet tall. Its fur was snow white and its appearance was horrendous.
Her whole existence came to a tiny dot in front of it.
It was like an ant facing an elephant.
Despite its appearance that made it seem like a monster, the sharp and cunning glint in its six eyes told of its intelligence.
While standing in front of this strange creature she had never heard of before, she felt the unbearable pressure crushing her.
It was a pressure different from that which she felt at the cave, the monster before her exuded an intimidating pressure. It rooted her to her place on the ground, unable to move an inch from its presence.
It observed her quietly with a chilling gaze, as if observing its food for the day and finding it not to its taste.
With the slash of a single claw, she fell to ground.
Blood gushing from where it hit her on her head.
Just when she thought it was about to pick her up and chew on her, she heard a sharp sound and a thud.
She turned her had slightly and what she saw was the monster's severed head right in front of her.
She suppressed her scream that was rising inside her throat and felt the presence next to her.
"huh? What do we have here?" the male voice was all she heard before losing consciousness.
