One thing every person in the old world needed was the ability to Change.
A permanent change in the story of their favourite characters.
Without Peter noticing, the One Above All smiled, though he quickly hid it when Peter opened his eyes.
"Change. I want a change," Peter said, looking at him seriously.
"What kind of change?"
"A permanent one. Something that lasts. Something that will not disappear after a few months or years."
The One Above All nodded, now looking at him with genuine interest.
"What do you want to change?"
"Come in and see what I have planned, if you agree."
Peter pointed toward his head.
The One Above All nodded and touched Peter's forehead with one finger. It lasted only a few seconds, but that was more than enough for him to see everything Peter intended.
"Are you sure you want that?"
"I do not want anything else."
You never cease to amaze me, boy, the One Above All thought.
He remembered how Destiny had told him that the boy standing before him would ask for exotic materials and information, a choice that would eventually lead to the death of one of his close friends, perhaps even one of his girls.
But apparently, Peter had altered Destiny once again.
That pleasantly surprised him.
It was something his favorite son did very often.
"Well, if that is truly what you want, I have no reason to refuse."
He stood, and a cylindrical device formed in his hand before he offered it to Peter.
"Similar to the ones you already have. You know how to use it."
"Right. Before I go, I need the suit. It is the most important thing," Peter said while standing and recalling all the important details.
The One Above All nodded and snapped his fingers.
Snap.
"Good."
Peter's body glowed faintly for a second. Once the light disappeared, he looked down and saw that he was wearing a completely different suit.
"Your suit is in your laboratory. Cortana is integrated into this one now. It has been modified so that you can use it at full capacity. You can keep the old one, though it will not be particularly useful now."
"Cortana, initiate the central visual interface."
The suit's lenses glowed faintly.
"All set. Systems fully operational. Specifications will appear shortly," Cortana said as a list appeared along the left side of the HUD. "By the way, a certain AI tried to absorb herself into me and failed."
She sounded highly amused.
The Living Brain
The AI Otto created.
It does not surprise me that she attempted something like that. She is superior to many AIs and possesses a connection to the Spider-Bots, which could be useful. Maybe I can find where they are and take some of them. They will not be useful to him anymore. I can leave a few behind for him to use.
Peter continued reviewing the specifications.
Enhanced spider-sense.
Redundant for him.
Retractable metallic legs.
Slightly more useful than the natural ones he already possessed.
The mask was similar to the one he normally used.
Again, redundant.
Protection around the back of the head.
Useful.
The suit itself did not provide particularly impressive protection against bullets or cuts.
The only genuinely remarkable component was the web-shooters, which possessed five hundred and thirty-eight different types of webbing.
In short, his own suit was better.
Peter sighed in disappointment.
"The suit is disappointing. Your Beta suit was much better than this, not to mention that the one you are currently creating is far superior in several ways," Cortana said.
"You are right. Um... could you please?"
Peter looked toward the One Above All and pointed at his waist.
"Of course."
He snapped his fingers again, and Peter's utility belt reappeared. This time, however, it was completely black and did not ruin the overall theme of the suit.
"Thanks. I feel a little incomplete without it."
Peter placed the cylindrical device into one of the belt's compartments.
"I am ready."
The One Above All snapped his fingers once again.
Suddenly, Peter no longer felt solid ground beneath his feet.
Looking down, he saw a dimensional vortex that he immediately recognized from a certain film.
"Damn."
He fell straight through it.
"Good luck!" the One Above All called after him.
Then he sniffed dramatically.
"Already so young and going on his first interdimensional journey between Multiverses. They grow up so fast."
He wiped a fake tear from the corner of his eye.
"I hope this makes Peter happy."
He was about to disappear when he suddenly remembered something important.
"Ah. I think I will slow down time in this universe. I do not want him to feel like Steve when he comes back. Time differences between universes are so tedious."
He snapped his fingers.
A moment later, he disappeared in a sphere of golden light.
....
As he entered the vortex, Peter began to seriously question whether he ever wanted to travel between dimensions again. It felt like being trapped on a roller coaster with every possible turn, drop, and spin amplified beyond reason.
Looking down at his hands, he suddenly noticed something strange.
"Damn! I have become a cartoon character!"
His hands had taken on a distinctly cartoon-like appearance. Looking around, however, he had to admit that the view was incredibly beautiful regardless.
He twisted and turned through the vortex until he finally found a much more comfortable way to move. Looking ahead, he saw a white opening beginning to form.
"Great. We are almost out of this vortex."
"That is great because I feel like I am going to be sick, and that should not even be possible because I do not have a stomach in my current form," Cortana said.
The moment Peter passed through the white opening, he felt as though he had been thrown through ten reinforced concrete walls. Immediately afterward, it felt as if ten Cogmans had struck him in rapid succession.
Looking back, Peter realized that what he had initially thought was a wall looked more like an enormous layer of glass, and he immediately recognized what it was.
The barrier separating the 616 Multiverse from mine, preventing anything from traveling freely between them. It is a good thing that wall repairs itself quickly. I do not want anything from this place affecting mine, especially a certain zombie virus.
Looking forward again, Peter saw a brilliant light and instinctively closed his eyes.
A second later, he crashed violently into something incredibly hard.
