Chapter 47 - Chapter 46: The Reset Mutant Timeline

Jean Grey School for Gifted Youngsters?

Rorschach blinked.

Wasn't the mutant academy always named after Professor X? Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.

Since when had it been renamed after Phoenix?

Then...

In an instant, everything clicked.

The X-Men movie series was split into the old trilogy and the younger trilogy with the younger Professor X and Magneto. And the second movie in that younger trilogy was Days of Future Past.

That was the one where Wolverine traveled back in time from the future, stopped the Sentinel program, and prevented Magneto from killing the president—changing the entire course of history.

Which meant the events of the original older trilogy no longer existed.

In the reset timeline, Magneto helped the X-Men stop Apocalypse and save all humanity. He was no longer a fugitive and ended up living in seclusion.

Professor X, through his own relentless effort, gradually led human society to accept mutants.

The X-Men were even popular.

When astronauts got into trouble in outer space, the president personally called Professor X and asked him to save them.

And it was during that rescue that the unknown cosmic force entered Jean Grey's body, drawing the D'Bari to Earth.

Their leader manipulated everything in order to seize the power inside Jean, pushing her toward darkness.

Of course, at the critical moment, Jean came back to herself and joined forces with Professor X, Magneto, and the others to fight the invaders.

In the end, Jean killed their leader—but she also lost her own life.

That was why Xavier's School had been renamed in her honor.

And Professor X had retired.

Living the rest of his days playing chess and drinking tea with Magneto.

But that was all years ago.

From the looks of it, Professor X had probably returned to the school again.

When Deadpool was dragged to the mutant academy by Colossus and the others, Professor X really had been there.

And that Professor X had indeed looked like the younger version.

Which meant...

The Marvel world Rorschach had transmigrated into had already gone through Days of Future Past.

The mutant timeline had been reset.

In this world, the relationship between mutants and humans was no longer on the verge of open war. Human society had already developed a much higher level of acceptance toward mutants.

Sure, there were still people who hated them, even feared them.

But as far as the mainstream of society was concerned, accepting mutants was the politically correct stance.

Thinking back on Deadpool, that made sense too.

Colossus, Negasonic, and the other X-Men all carried out their missions openly.

Which meant that in this world, there was no longer any sharp conflict between mutants and humans. Magneto wasn't out there constantly stirring up trouble with mutant supremacists either.

This was a brand-new mutant era.

Rorschach sorted everything out in no time.

No wonder mutants had seemed to have such a low presence in this world ever since he arrived.

People were already used to them.

They had accepted them.

Naturally, there was no reason for the whole world to stay obsessed with them anymore.

For Rorschach, that was a good thing.

At the very least, it meant this society wasn't quite as chaotic.

As he drifted through his thoughts, the bell over the shop door rang again, snapping him back to reality.

A woman with a stunning figure and an icy expression walked in.

Rorschach glanced up at her and paused.

She looked incredibly familiar.

She was definitely someone from the plot...

Elektra.

Recognition struck him almost instantly.

The woman standing there was none other than Daredevil's childhood sweetheart, the Black Sky the Hand had been desperately searching for, and Stick's disciple—Elektra.

Rorschach immediately felt a stir of excitement.

Elektra was no ordinary woman. A seven-figure price tag shouldn't be a problem for her.

This was a potential premium customer.

He came to that conclusion at once.

"Welcome to the shop."

That thought crossed his mind, but he didn't let it delay him. He politely stepped forward to greet her.

"Thank you."

Elektra gave him a faint smile and a nod, all while subtly observing the store around her.

Ever since that fight the other night, she had never been able to let go of Wesley's hand-fired bullet.

So she had quietly started investigating.

And in the end, the clues led her here—to this inconspicuous little shop.

Like every other customer who stepped inside, Elektra's attention was immediately drawn to the Devil Fruits on display.

There was no helping it.

Their designs were simply too eye-catching. They were the most striking things in the room. Ignoring them was impossible.

"Shopkeeper, what kind of fruit are these?"

She looked at the display case and asked.

"These aren't ordinary fruit."

Rorschach corrected her seriously.

"They're Devil Fruits."

Devil Fruits?

Elektra paused.

Only then did she remember that the name of the shop was Devil Fruit Home.

She had assumed the name was just that—a name.

Like Jack's Diner or Brothers Pizza.

Nothing more.

She hadn't expected the goods being sold here to actually be called Devil Fruits.

But what exactly were Devil Fruits?

She had never seen anything like these bizarre, brightly colored fruits before.

"Devil Fruits?"

Her brows lifted slightly as she turned to look at Rorschach with obvious confusion.

"What kind of fruit are they?"

"They're fruits that contain mysterious power."

Rorschach gave her a brief, straightforward explanation.

"If someone eats one, they gain a superpower."

A mocking smile instinctively tugged at Elektra's lips.

How could something like that possibly exist in this world?

But in the very next instant, Kingpin's glowing fist and Wesley's bizarre bullet that had struck her out of nowhere flashed through her mind.

The mockery on her face froze.

Of course, Stick had already explained Kingpin's glowing fist to her. He believed that was the power of the Iron Fist from K'un-Lun.

But as for Wesley firing a bullet barehanded—even Stick had no idea how that worked.

If a man's fist could be lit up by some kind of power, and another could fire bullets straight from his body...

Then maybe a fruit that granted superpowers wasn't actually that impossible after all.

Elektra's attitude gradually changed.

She looked straight at Rorschach and asked in a calm voice,

"What kinds of superpowers?"

Then her eyes sharpened.

"Can it grant the power to fire bullets with your bare hands?"
