The Silent Observer
Back at the White Dove sanctuary, Catherine clutched the glowing crystal hanging from her own neck. Through the magical link of the necklace she had gifted Jin Ae, she had heard every word of the devil's bargain.
"Is she really going to do it?" Jasmine asked, her voice a fragile whisper. "Is she actually going to kill for him?"
"I hope not," Catherine said, her brow furrowed in deep thought. "But I'm still trying to understand... how is it even possible? A demon and a human... if they have a child, the blood is tainted forever?"
The Lore of the Half-Blood
Nana Esther stepped out from the shadows of the archive, her presence grounding and ancient. "It is not the first time the heavens and the abyss have mingled with the earth, my child," she said solemnly.
"Even the holy ones have fallen into such temptations," Esther continued. "When an angel and a human mate, their offspring are called Nephilim. They are giants of spirit, possessing unique and terrifying powers. Your friend's condition is the dark mirror of that."
"You mean there are others like Jin Ae?" Jasmine asked.
"She is not the first," Esther confirmed, her gaze drifting toward the high-security wing of the headquarters. "Even Inspector Cristine carries that burden. She was the first Bellator to possess the dual blood of a Babaylan and a demon."
"Inspector Cristine?" Jasmine gasped. "But she's a hero!"
"She is," Esther nodded. "But she had to undergo the Baptism of Light. It forced her demonic blood into a dormant state, a deep sleep that must never be broken. That is why we keep her under such strict protection here at the White Dove. If she were to awaken, the chaos would be unimaginable."
The Missing Travelers
Jasmine looked toward the ritual circle, which remained cold and empty. "Why are Ethan and the others taking so long? They were only supposed to observe the past. Should they have returned by now?"
Catherine looked at the shimmering ley lines on the floor. "Time moves differently in the currents of the past. But the longer they stay, the more they risk being seen by things that dwell in the fold."
"We need them back," Jasmine said, looking at the vision of Jin Ae through the necklace. "Because I don't think Jin Ae can fight this alone much longer."
Parting Ways
The Travelers stood in the center of the ritual circle as the golden light of the past finally faded. The air of the present was cool and crisp.
"That's it?" Akihiko asked, blinking away the temporal fatigue.
"Yes. My guidance ends here," the Lady in Red said, her voice shimmering like silk. "The rest of the story is yours to write. Good luck." With a final, cryptic smile, she dissolved into a flurry of crimson petals.
"So, what's the plan, Captain Sandoval?" Kaito asked, turning to Ethan.
"First, we rest," Ethan decided, his shoulders heavy with exhaustion. "Tomorrow, we meet with the Council of Witches. We need their help."
"Kaito is right, Ethan," Baekhyun added. "Your Sigbinan blood makes you strong, but you need to master the spells. We all need to prepare for the great war."
"Why don't you join us at the White Dove?" Ethan offered Kaito.
Kaito shook his head. "Not now, Captain. I don't think the Council is ready to see me yet—not after the chaos I caused in the West. It's better if I stay in the shadows for a while."
"I'll look after him, Captain," Zac promised, stepping to Kaito's side. "And don't worry, I'll let your mother know you're safe."
"Thank you, Zac," Ethan said. Kaito offered a crisp, respectful salute before the two of them vanished into the night.
Ghosts of the Past
Akihiko returned to his quiet apartment. The space felt hollow, littered with the empty beer bottles from the nights he had spent worrying about Ethan's safety. As he began to clean, his mind drifted back to the first time he had met Daisuke—the memories of his former life always felt just out of reach.
A sudden knock at the door startled him. When he opened it, Daisuke stood there, his arms laden with heavy grocery bags and several bottles of wine.
"Daisuke? What are you doing here?" Akihiko asked, surprised.
"Can I come in?" Daisuke asked with a weary smile. "These bags are killing my arms."
"Of course, please."
Daisuke set the bags on the counter. "I brought dinner... and some wine."
Akihiko's eyes widened as he saw the label. "Hokkaido? You remembered... that's my favorite."
The Secret Sanctuary
Meanwhile, Baekhyun led Ethan to a secluded rest house tucked away in the mountains. It was a place known only to the Choi siblings, purchased by their mother years ago.
"This place is incredible," Ethan whispered, taking in the serene landscape and the protective hum of energy in the air.
"Mama Ara bought this for us," Baekhyun explained. "Our grandfather doesn't even know it exists. Nana Esther placed a massive protection ward over the entire property; we're safe here."
"I wish we could bring everyone here," Ethan sighed.
"Well, you're in luck," Baekhyun smirked. "Nana Amelia is already here... along with the Dos Brujas."
"The Dos Brujas?" Ethan asked, confused.
Before he could get an answer, the front doors burst open.
"WELCOME BACK!" Jasmine screamed at the top of her lungs, nearly knocking Ethan over.
"See? I told you not to shout!" Catherine scolded, following behind her with a roll of her eyes. Behind them, Amelia and Nana Esther stood on the porch, their faces filled with relief.
Ethan laughed, a genuine, warm sound. "It's okay. Thank you, girls." He offered them both a sweet, grateful smile, feeling—for the first time in a long time—that he was finally home.
The Judgment
In a dimly lit, abandoned warehouse, Jin Ae stood over her first target. Mayor Luisito Juanito—a man whose belly was as full of greed as his hands were of blood—sat bound to a wooden chair. He struggled against the thick ropes, his breathing heavy and panicked.
"Mayor Juanito," Jin Ae said, her voice dropping into a cold, clinical tone. "A gambler, a sex offender, and a murderer. You silenced ten innocent people, including the journalist who tried to bring your filth to light. Tonight, the debt is due."
"You're insane, lady!" the fat man wheezed, his eyes darting around the shadows. "I don't know what you're talking about. Let me go, and I'll make you rich!"
"My name is Helga," she replied, ignoring his pleas. She stepped into the light, her face a mask of stone. "I am here to ask one thing: Do you repent? Do you feel even a shred of mercy for the lives you snuffed out?"
The Mayor's fear turned into a sneer. "Repent? Why should I? The weak exist to be stepped on. It's survival of the fittest, sweetheart. That's the way of the world."
The First Drop
Jin Ae sighed, a sound of weary disappointment. "Then, Mayor Juanito... welcome to the everlasting fires."
As she spoke, her voice began to echo with a supernatural resonance. She drew the Stiléto apó ti Géenna. The jagged blade glinted with a dark, hungry light. With one swift, decisive motion, she drove the dagger deep into the Mayor's chest.
He gasped, but no scream came out. Instead, the dagger began to glow. Jin Ae watched, mesmerized, as the rhythmic pulse of the weapon drew the blood upward. The circular crystal embedded in the pommel began to fill with a swirling, crimson liquid.
For a terrifying moment, a surge of dark adrenaline rushed through her veins. A twisted sense of joy—of justice—flushed her cheeks. She found herself laughing, a sharp, manic sound that filled the empty room as the Mayor's life faded away.
The Devil's Count
"Well done, my granddaughter," a voice purred from the shadows. Joseon stepped forward, clapping his hands slowly. "Not bad at all for a first-timer. You have a natural instinct for the harvest."
The laughter died in Jin Ae's throat. She looked at her blood-stained hands, the "joy" vanishing as quickly as it had come. "It's done. Now leave my family alone."
"Oh, we are far from finished," Joseon chuckled, his eyes fixed on the glowing crystal of the dagger. "I forgot to mention: the ritual requires thirteen. You have collected one soul of the unrepentant. You have twelve more to go."
"Twelve?" Jin Ae gasped, her heart sinking. "You never said—"
"I trust in you, Jin Ae," he interrupted, his form beginning to dissolve into a thick, oily black smoke. "After all, you're doing this for love, aren't you?"
As the smoke cleared, Jin Ae fell to her knees beside the cooling corpse. The darkness of the warehouse felt like it was closing in on her. She clasped her hands together, her tears dripping onto the cold concrete.
"Lord, please... forgive me," she sobbed, her voice a broken whisper. "I'm doing this for them. I'm doing this to keep Baekhyun and Mom safe. Please don't let me lose myself."
Akihiko & Daisuke
The glow of the screen flickered between them as they settled into the movie.
"I love this telenovela," Daisuke whispered.
"Maria Del Sur? That's a retro classic," Akihiko replied, his voice low. As he turned to look at Daisuke, their eyes locked, the distance between them vanishing until their lips finally brushed.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to—" Daisuke started to pull back, but Akihiko silenced him with a searing kiss. Akihiko's hand began to roam, tracing the lines of Daisuke's body. A sharp gasp escaped Daisuke's throat when Akihiko's palm pressed against his chest.
"Please..." Daisuke breathed. Akihiko moved with sudden purpose, hovering over him as he tugged his black tank top over his head. Daisuke's eyes trailed over Akihiko's frame, his gaze eventually landing on the heavy weight pressing against his partner's boxers.
Akihiko didn't give him time to overthink. He showered Daisuke in kisses, moving from his lips to the sensitive curve of his neck, and down to his chest. As Akihiko's tongue flicked against him, Daisuke felt a wave of unfamiliar, overwhelming pleasure.
"Oohh! Aki, what are you doing?" Daisuke cried out softly. Akihiko carefully stripped away the rest of Daisuke's clothes, exposing his slender, pale frame. The sight only fueled Akihiko's hunger.
"You're so cute when you moan," Akihiko murmured. He discarded his own boxers, revealing himself fully to Daisuke.
Daisuke's eyes widened. "That's... so big."
As they moved together, the air grew thick with heat. Akihiko leaned in, gasping as Daisuke took the lead for a moment, the intimacy deepening until Akihiko couldn't hold back his restraint any longer. He guided Daisuke to turn over, his hands steady but trembling with need.
"Take it slow, cowboy," Daisuke winced slightly as he felt the initial pressure. Akihiko immediately softened, soothing him with a tender kiss and waiting for Daisuke to adjust before pushing deeper.
"You're so tight... and so warm," Akihiko groaned. In the heat of his passion, his control slipped, and his fox ears suddenly popped into view.
"Your ears..." Daisuke panted, reaching back as Akihiko gripped his chest, pulling him close for another deep kiss. Akihiko's rhythm grew faster, more desperate, as they climbed toward the edge together.
The room filled with the sound of their shared breaths and sharp cries. "I'm close! I'm cumming!" Akihiko called out. They clung to one another as the tension finally broke, a shared wave of release crashing over them.
"So warm..." Daisuke whispered, breathless and spent, feeling the heat of their connection lingering within him.
Baekhyun & Ethan
Meanwhile, with Baekhyun and Ethan, the mood was just as tender.
"I love you. Thank you for always being there for me," Baekhyun said, his eyes full of sincerity.
"I love you too," Ethan replied. "You always protect me when I'm in danger." He leaned in, capturing Baekhyun's lips in a soft, appreciative kiss that Baekhyun immediately returned.
