The massacre had left no echoes.
The courtyard of Sector 2's Core Tower was a graveyard of melted silver armor and dissolving flesh. The toxic green fog clung to the ground like a burial shroud.
Inside the control room, the silence was absolute.
Arthur Pendelton stood before the Major Mana Node.
It was a colossal, faceted crystal, towering five meters high and pulsing with a blinding, pure blue light. It was the heart of the district, pumping life into the defensive grids of the Silver-Blood Guild.
But now, it was trembling.
It wasn't a mechanical vibration.
The Node pulsed... violently.
As if it were alive.
As if it recognized the catastrophic, world-ending density of the [Calamity Seed] standing before it.
[WARNING!]
[Target Exceeds Safe Synthesis Parameters.]
[Massive Concentration of Pure World-Mana Detected.]
[Attempting to fuse with Corrupted Materials will result in high-probability annihilation.]
Arthur read the glowing red text.
He looked at the trembling crystal. He looked at the mangled corpses of the Grand Mages and elite guards littering the floor around him.
He didn't step back. He didn't hesitate.
He only paused for half a second.
"Perfect."
His voice was cold, carrying the absolute authority of a sovereign who refused to be bound by safety parameters.
Arthur raised both hands.
"System. Four-Way Irregular Synthesis."
He didn't just target the Mana Node.
He targeted the ambient [Lethal Corrosion] lingering in the air.
He targeted the dozens of high-quality elite corpses bleeding out on the floor.
And finally, he drew a sliver of the abyssal void-matter from the [Null Executioner] standing silently in his shadow.
"Fuse."
The world didn't just explode. It tore itself apart.
Blood-red lightning erupted, but it was immediately swallowed by a violent, chaotic storm of blinding blue mana and toxic green plague.
The massive crystal Node shattered. Not into pieces, but into liquid energy.
The elite corpses were violently ripped apart, their bones and flesh dissolving into raw, bloody fuel that was sucked into the swirling vortex of mana and void.
The concrete floor cratered. The reinforced walls of the tower groaned and buckled under the sheer, impossible pressure.
Arthur gritted his teeth, his pitch-black eyes narrowing as the storm tried to rip him apart.
He wasn't in complete control.
The energy was too massive, too primal, too chaotic. The pure World-Mana was violently rejecting the Void and the Plague.
The red lightning bent wildly, striking the ceiling and melting the steel beams. The entire skyscraper shook as if an earthquake had struck the foundation.
It's collapsing, Arthur thought, blood dripping from his nose. The vessel cannot contain the raw output.
He poured every ounce of his monstrous Mental Energy into the storm, his mind screaming under the strain.
"I said..." Arthur roared over the deafening chaos, his voice dropping an octave into something demonic. "FUSE!"
With a horrific, bone-shattering CRUNCH, reality forced the opposing elements to obey.
The blinding light collapsed inward.
The storm vanished.
Silence crashed back into the ruined control room.
Arthur fell to one knee, panting heavily, wiping the black blood from his chin. His vision blurred, but he forced himself to look up.
There was no weapon.
There was no humanoid summon.
Hovering in the center of the crater was something... else.
It was a massive, fleshy, crystalline heart.
Over three meters wide. Half of it was forged from jagged, pulsing blue mana-crystal. The other half was a grotesque, beating mass of gray regenerating muscle, pulsing with thick, toxic green veins.
It wasn't a creature. It was an organ.
And it was beating.
Thump. Thump.
Thick, black, vine-like shadows snaked out from the bottom of the heart, violently burying themselves deep into the bedrock of the tower, rooting the entity to the earth itself.
[Ding!]
[Miraculous Synthesis Successful!]
[New Entity Created: The Cataclysm Seed - Graveborn Mana Heart]
[Level: ERROR - Environmental Hazard]
[Tier: Mythic (Incomplete)]
[Skills:]
- Mana Devour (Passive): Actively drains ambient mana and lifeforce from a 5km radius to fuel the Host's summons.
- Corruption Field: Converts the surrounding environment into a 'Dead Zone'. Enemy healing is nullified; toxic damage is amplified by 300%.
- Endless Growth: The Heart evolves permanently with every high-tier entity killed within its domain.
Arthur stared at the massive, beating heart.
It was a masterpiece of horror and engineering.
But it was unstable.
Thump. THUMP.
The Graveborn Heart suddenly pulsed erratically.
A violent surge of corrupted mana blasted outward, knocking Arthur back a step.
The thick, shadowy vines began to rip out of the bedrock, thrashing wildly. They didn't aim for Arthur.
They aimed for the weakest link in the room.
The Boy—Arthur's first Shadow—who had just stumbled into the control room, was instantly grabbed by a thick, spiked vine.
The boy screamed as the vine pierced his shoulder, lifting him into the air. The Graveborn Heart was trying to consume him, to use his living mana as stabilization fuel.
"Arthur!" the boy gasped, struggling desperately against the crushing grip, his own dark aura flaring in a futile attempt to resist.
Arthur didn't pull out a weapon.
He watched the boy struggle.
If he breaks here, he was never meant to be my Shadow, Arthur thought coldly.
But the boy didn't beg again. He stopped struggling. His hollow eyes burned with that familiar, dark fire. He raised his broken dagger and violently stabbed it into his own shoulder, trying to sever the vine holding him, willing to cut off his own arm to survive.
Arthur's eyes gleamed.
Acceptable.
Arthur walked directly into the thrashing vines, letting them scrape against the [Mantle of the Fallen Lord].
He placed his bare hand directly against the beating, fleshy surface of the massive heart.
His pitch-black eyes flared with the absolute, crushing weight of the [Calamity Seed].
"Kneel," Arthur commanded.
But the massive heart didn't submit.
It violently pulsed, sending a shockwave of pure, agonizing pain up Arthur's arm. It felt like grabbing a live wire of raw, angry consciousness.
It wasn't just resisting. It was trying to consume him. To pull the creator into the creation.
Arthur didn't step back. He stepped forward.
He violently forced his fingers into the fleshy, crystalline surface of the organ, his own pitch-black void-mana surging into the breach.
"I built you from rot and dust," Arthur hissed, his voice vibrating with absolute, demonic authority, physically crushing the Heart's rebellious pulse beneath the sheer weight of his existential gravity. "You do not consume. You serve."
With a sickening, wet sound, the vines slowly released the boy, plunging back into the bedrock.
The erratic heartbeat slowed down, forced into matching the calm, cold rhythm of Arthur's own breathing.
It submitted.
But deep within the rhythmic pulse... something ancient stirred. Not obedient. Not controlled. Waiting.
The System flickered violently, struggling to process the shift in reality.

[World Authority Conflict: Host is attempting to hijack a Major Node.]
The blue screen turned a deep, bloody crimson.
[Override Successful.]
[The Cataclysm Seed has taken root.]
[New Domain Established: The Null Dominion]
[Host is now recognized as a Domain Owner.]
Arthur removed his hand from the pulsing heart.
He wasn't just a player anymore. He wasn't a rogue variable.
He owned a piece of the board.
Across Sector 2... lights flickered.
Not from a power failure.
From something... taking over.
The sky above the district shifted, the neon glow smothered by a sudden, unnatural, oppressive green haze.
The boy dropped to the floor, panting heavily, gripping his bleeding shoulder. He stared up at the massive, beating organ that was slowly turning the entire tower into a nightmare.
"What... is that?" the boy whispered, his eyes wide.
Arthur looked out the shattered window, watching the toxic green fog slowly begin to spread from the tower, creeping out into the streets of the Null Dominion.
"This world runs on borrowed existence," Arthur said quietly, the dark energy of the Heart reflecting in his pitch-black eyes.
He stepped back from the window, pulling the hood of his mantle over his head.
"I'm here to collect."
