Chapter 106 - CHAPTER 106 AFTER THE FOREST'S WRATH

A gentle breeze drifted once more through the ancient forest.

The explosions were gone.

The deafening roars had faded.

The poisonous hum of Dominion's machines had finally fallen silent.

Only the soft rustling of leaves remained.

Quiet.

Weary.

As if the forest itself had barely survived a terrible nightmare.

Thin mist flowed between the towering trees while shafts of sunlight pierced the canopy, illuminating cracked earth, fallen trunks, and the scars left behind by the battle.

Victory had come.

But victory always left wounds.

Bimo sat on a fallen tree trunk, clutching his left side.

His face was pale, beads of cold sweat rolling down his temple.

Dika stood before him with his arms folded.

"You need to stay still."

Bimo snorted.

"If I stay still..."

He grimaced.

"...that's when it really starts to hurt."

Rani walked over carrying emergency bandages.

"Quiet."

Bimo forced a grin.

"Wow. The forest doctor is scary."

Even joking, his voice sounded weak.

Nearby, Farhan knelt beside his cracked laptop, his hands trembling as he examined the final readings.

"The generator is completely destroyed..."

Lila sat beside him, her shoulder torn from the fight.

"And the forest is still alive."

Farhan looked around.

"Barely."

A short distance away, Sinta stood alone.

Silent.

Her gaze swept across every member of the team.

Bimo was injured.

Arga was barely standing.

Everyone was exhausted.

For the first time since they had entered the forest...

...she allowed herself to feel afraid.

Just a little.

If they had been only a few seconds later...

...none of them might have made it home.

Kai quietly stepped beside her.

"You're blaming yourself."

Sinta said nothing.

Because he was right.

In the middle of the devastated clearing—

Arga was still standing.

Or at least trying to.

His hands trembled violently as he held the MBG lunchbox.

The crack across its surface remained.

Inside—

Sixteen glowing rice grains revolved slowly.

Their light had changed.

It was calmer now.

Deeper.

Arga looked around.

Broken trees.

Shattered ground.

The scars of battle stretched in every direction.

They had won today.

Yet the world had just shown him how small he truly was.

Kai walked closer.

"You don't have to carry everything alone."

Arga smiled faintly.

"But everything still falls apart right in front of me."

Then—

The ground trembled softly.

BOOM.

Everyone turned.

BOOM.

Through the mist, Ursa Vitalis emerged once again.

Its colossal body was still covered in moss and ancient roots.

But this time, its footsteps carried no anger.

It walked like an old guardian returning home from war.

Bimo swallowed hard.

"...He's back."

Dika narrowed his eyes.

"If he gets angry again, I'm pretending to pass out."

Ursa Vitalis stopped directly before Arga.

Slowly...

The colossal guardian lowered its head.

Not in threat.

In respect.

The entire forest fell silent.

No birds.

No wind.

It was as if nature itself had paused to witness the moment.

From Ursa's chest—

A small golden light emerged.

Unlike before.

Within that light swirled the shapes of roots, leaves, and flowing rivers intertwined as one.

Kai whispered,

"...The Guardian Core."

Farhan slowly lifted his head.

"Impossible..."

The glowing light drifted toward Arga.

The closer it came...

...the warmer it became.

Arga could hear something.

Not words.

But countless lives speaking together.

Rain falling.

Seeds sprouting.

Roots searching for water.

Animals being born.

Ancient trees reaching the end of their lives.

The entire cycle of the forest spoke without a single word.

The light gently touched the lunchbox.

WHOOOOOM.

All sixteen rice grains pulsed at once.

One of them changed.

Its golden glow slowly transformed into a deep emerald green.

The color of the forest's heart.

Arga gasped.

Suddenly...

He could sense roots stretching deep beneath the earth.

Underground rivers flowing dozens of kilometers away.

And...

Something else.

Something moving far away.

Enormous.

Ancient.

Ursa Vitalis let out a low growl.

This time—

Arga understood its meaning.

Protect them.

The giant guardian looked at him one last time.

Then turned away.

Its massive footsteps slowly disappeared into the mist.

BOOM.

BOOM.

BOOM.

Until the sound faded completely.

Yet somehow...

Its presence remained.

Not far away—

Pak Rahmat stood alone beside the wreckage of Dominion's generator.

In his hand was the black chip he had recovered earlier.

The ancient symbol etched into his palm glowed faintly.

He pressed the chip against the trunk of a broken tree.

Within seconds—

The chip crumbled into dust.

Sinta watched from a distance.

"What was that?"

Pak Rahmat didn't turn around.

"A trail."

"And we can't let them find it again."

Farhan frowned.

"Find what?"

Only then did Pak Rahmat look at them.

His expression remained calm.

Far too calm.

"The place that was once lost."

He offered no further explanation.

Even Kai looked visibly tense.

Lila opened the world's energy map.

"Everyone... look at this."

Points of light began appearing once more.

Across mountain ranges.

In endless deserts.

Within ancient cities.

On isolated islands.

Deep beneath the ocean.

Not dozens.

Hundreds.

Farhan slowly inhaled.

"The global resonance is still increasing."

Bimo forced himself to stand.

"So..."

"...Vacation's canceled?"

No one laughed.

Arga stared at the emerald-green rice grain inside his lunchbox.

He could feel countless calls coming from every direction.

The world wasn't waiting anymore.

The world was awakening.

Pak Rahmat studied the map for a long time.

Then he spoke quietly—

Words that froze everyone where they stood.

"This is happening much sooner than it should."

Sinta looked at him.

"What do you mean?"

Pak Rahmat kept his eyes fixed on the ever-growing points of light.

"The Guardians were never supposed to awaken..."

"...before the final gate was opened."

Silence.

Farhan whispered,

"...What gate?"

There was no answer.

Then—

The earth trembled.

Once.

Not from the forest.

From somewhere else.

The world map suddenly flickered violently.

A single point appeared.

Not gold.

Red.

In the deepest part of the ocean.

Kai instinctively stepped back.

For the first time—

His face turned pale.

"That's not a Core..."

Pak Rahmat closed his eyes for a brief moment.

When he opened them again, his voice was colder than any battlefield.

"It's the predator... that hunts the Guardians."
