Jay's POV...
I was peacefully resting on my bed when my phone suddenly buzzed.
I froze.
Slowly, I turned my head toward the phone sitting beside me.
The moment I saw the name flashing across the screen, my heartbeat immediately went from normal to WHY-AM-I-STILL-ALIVE?
Kingofmyheartđź’– calling--
Dayummmm it.
I was cooked.
Completely, utterly, professionally cooked.
It was the King of Vipers himself calling.
And I was pretty damn sure I knew exactly what was coming the moment I picked up.
Because, you see...
I may or may not have ignored his messages.
Okay.
I definitely ignored them.
But can you blame me?!
There were 347 messages and 508 missed calls.
Who in their right mind was going to read all that?!
Not me.
I was lazy, not a historian.
"Hehehe..." I muttered to myself, staring at the screen.
The phone buzzed again.
His name appeared once more.
My smile vanished.
"Oh, Lord... Jesus, Mary and all the saints, please protect me."
I took a deep breath.
Then, with the courage of someone walking directly toward their own downfall, I answered.
"JASPER JEAN MARIANO."
I nearly dropped the phone.
Aargh!
That voice..
That dangerously calm, ridiculously handso-
No.
Nope.
Absolutely not.
There was too much noise around me.
Yes.
That was it.
I definitely did not just think his voice was handsome.
"Y-yes?"
"Can you tell me the fucking reason why you weren't picking up my calls?"
I swallowed.
Oh.
So we're starting like this.
"Umm... my phone was dead."
Silence.
The kind of silence that made me regret being born.
"You could've called me from another phone."
I stayed quiet.
"Or you could've just bought another one."
I blinked.
Well...
He had a point.
Unfortunately.
I had absolutely no comeback.
"I was on my way back home," he continued, his voice dangerously calm. "But that jackass Aries called me and told me you were at Angelo's house. So I knew you were safe."
"Ahh... yes."
"Jay."
The way he said my name made my stomach twist.
"Trust me."
I waited.
"You're going to regret this."
My eyes widened.
Huh?!
What did this Ulupong mean?
"Regret what?"
"You'll get a punishment."
"Fu—"
I slapped my hand over my mouth.
Too late.
There was silence on the other end.
"Profanity."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"That's another punishment."
I stared at the ceiling.
Why did I even answer this call?!
"So now," he said calmly, "that's double punishment."
"WHAT?!"
"Just wait for me."
My eyes widened.
"Wait, what?"
"You'll know when I come back from London."
Before I could ask anything else, the call ended.
I stared at my phone.
Then at the ceiling.
Then back at my phone.
...
What the hell was that supposed to mean?!
What kind of punishment was he planning?!
And why did the way he said wait for me sound like a warning wrapped in a promise?
I shuddered.
Nope.
I wasn't thinking about it.
I was going to forget the whole thing.
Five minutes later, I was still thinking about it.
Ten minutes later, I was pacing around my room.
Twenty minutes later, I had already created approximately seventeen possible punishments in my head.
And then suddenly—
A horrifying thought struck me.
My eyes widened.
"Wait..."
Could it be...
Was he seriously planning not to bring me sweets from London?!
My jaw dropped.
That monster.
That absolute villain.
After everything I've done for him?!
Okay, I had ignored 347 messages and 508 calls...
But still!
I crossed my arms dramatically.
"If he doesn't bring me sweets, I swear I'm never talking to him again."
I paused.
"...For at least two hours."
Then I sighed.
"Fine. Maybe one hour."
I collapsed onto my bed.
But deep down, one thing was certain.
Whatever that gago had planned...
I was in serious trouble.
And judging by that voice of his..
He knew it too.
Hey y'all!!! Do you miss Jayfer?? It's almost been 9-10 months since we last saw our Jayfer together...
