I could not pull my eyes away from the castle but I was aware enough of Phoenix beside me to know he was watching me rather than the building.
"You can take photos on my phone if you want," he said. "As many as you need."
"You brought your phone?" I turned to look at him.
He chuckled. "It is borrowed."
I smirked at him and laughed as he went back to the truck to retrieve it. I heard him exchange a brief and gruff word with the driver before he came back with a mobile phone from the centre console. Once it was in my hands I went around taking photographs from every angle I could find, trying to capture the exact quality of the early light falling across the stonework and the flowers. The camera was good but my brain was already mixing the colours instinctively, building the painting I would attempt later.
"Shall we go in?" Phoenix asked after a while.
