Pollux walked over rubbing the fresh bandage on his wrist and I pulled away from Phoenix and tried to stand. My legs had other ideas entirely. They buckled immediately and Phoenix caught me before I could embarrass myself further, steadying me until I found my footing.
I was passed carefully to my brother and I wrapped my arms around him and held on. "Thank you."
He chuckled and rubbed my back. "What else was I supposed to do? Watch you slip into a coma while Phoenix used up whatever was left of you?"
I laughed at that and glanced over at my mate beside us. Phoenix was watching me with a small smile and the tense posture of someone ready to catch me again at any moment. I rested my head on Pollux's shoulder and let myself be held for a moment while the world stopped spinning.
