Chapter 142 - Ghoul

We charged through the trees as one body, the pack nothing but a blur of moving shadows between the trunks. The pace was steady and measured and I was genuinely grateful for every mile Sean had forced me to run during training. My legs found their rhythm without argument and my lungs stayed level beside Phoenix's through the whole stretch.

The bond hummed warmly and consistently against my right side where he ran. His wolf was something to observe in motion, the way the muscles of his shoulders and haunches moved with each stride, effortless and powerful without any visible strain. His dark eyes came to me briefly as we moved through the trees and I swished my tail in acknowledgement. He returned his attention to the forest ahead without breaking pace.
