Chapter 160 - Chapter 159 Tonight, the Captain Joins the Hunt

"You were too reckless this time. You should know there were many tough characters there today."

"I know my limits. See? Haven't I returned safe and sound?"

As night fell, some 'rats' who disliked moving in the sunlight came to the surface and began to discuss matters.

A short, black figure leaned against a dilapidated wall and said to the person in front of her, who was a bit taller, "Besides, wasn't it to cover you?"

"I don't need your cover." The taller figure said coldly, "Without your 'help,' my actions would be smoother."

"Look at you, saying such things, it really makes me a bit disappointed." The short figure moved closer to the taller figure, her tone unfriendly, "You know, I threw away all my masterpieces from the past few months."

Yes, masterpieces. Masterpieces that didn't harm anyone except for one poor girl.

And that poison was resolved in less than an hour by a true Elf Race physician.

One could say it was utterly useless, or that it accomplished nothing.

"So you're sure? That half-elf is the one we're looking for?"

"The Elf Race's judgment is that the half-elf is not the one they are looking for." The taller figure said, "But I don't think so."

"You mean, that elf is the one we're looking for?"

"Yes, I think it's her." The taller figure nodded, trusting her intuition.

Although the Elf Race's authoritative certification stated that the half-elf was not the one they were looking for, the half-elf who stole an important item from the Elf Race.

However, the taller figure didn't believe it.

She believed that Eriko was the half-elf who stole the Elf Race's important treasure.

"Qin's judgment is correct." A new voice joined their conversation, "I investigated, and the only half-elf who recently appeared in Central City is that one."

"This matter actually alarmed you, Divine Envoy?" The short figure said in surprise.

"It concerns a divine artifact." The Divine Envoy answered succinctly. She glanced at the two people in front of her and said indifferently, "The task given to me by the superiors is to try to recruit her into our organization."

"That's a bit difficult." The taller figure immediately said, "Currently, that half-elf is protected by Malanie, and that lady's strength should not be underestimated."

"Indeed, the defensive strength of that place is almost comparable to the United Council's assembly hall. We alone can't snatch her away." The short figure, uncharacteristically, agreed with the taller figure.

She had personally experienced the defensive strength of that place. To put it bluntly, she was always just a hair's breadth away from failure in her actions. If she made even one mistake, the entire plan would be ruined.

This was just external harassment. For a frontal assault, the short figure felt that at least several S-rank Heroes would be needed to barely break through the outer defenses.

As for the internal defenses, she didn't know.

"The internal defenses are also very formidable. A frontal assault is absolutely impossible." The taller figure added.

Not to mention the almost ubiquitous hidden sentinels inside the manor, Malanie alone was an insurmountable high wall.

Although she had never seen that lady make a move, judging solely from the terrifying aura she exuded, the taller figure believed she would not be able to withstand a single blow from that lady.

Even if the Divine Envoy personally entered the fray, she would probably only be able to last a few moves.

Moreover, there was another character who couldn't be ignored, the girl named Quinn Sukina.

Although that girl looked harmless to humans and animals, and indeed felt harmless, the taller figure didn't believe that a girl with such a strange relationship with Malanie would be an ordinary person.

Just by her presence there today, accompanying Eriko to meet the Elf Race, the taller figure dared to assert that Quinn Sukina was definitely not an ordinary person.

"What are Malanie's weaknesses?" the Divine Envoy asked.

"She seems to be a sis-con, and she has a good impression of a girl named Quinn Sukina." The taller figure recounted everything she knew.

The Divine Envoy pondered. If a frontal assault wouldn't work, would she have to resort to unconventional methods to outsmart them?

Kidnapping? Or threats? She thought.

Who should she target?

"That Quinn Sukina is probably not simple. Malanie cares about her a lot, but she hasn't had anyone protect her safety." The taller figure continued.

Melanie cares so much about Quinn Sukina, yet she hasn't sent anyone to protect the seemingly frail and weak Quinn Sukina. Isn't that strange?
