Edward had been taken away. The lead Investigator sent two rookie Investigators to find Edward's family and tell them not to worry, as Edward was working for the Church of Generosity and Wisdom.
For this, the Church of Generosity and Wisdom would pay Edward's family—specifically his sister—1 currency of Edward's wages every week, and there would be rookie Investigators and Church staff rotating to protect Edward's sister.
After all, taking away a little girl's only relative and then ignoring them was not something the Church of Generosity and Wisdom would do.
They only wanted to study the cause of the mutation in Edward and investigate the two strange people Edward had encountered.
What the Investigators below did not notice was that under the shadow of the eaves, a pair of eyes had been watching them all along.
After the Investigators had all left, Pasha walked out from the shadows. She was still having trouble processing everything.
"According to Edward... Miss Silver Crow and the other green-haired lady are both such great and kind people?" Pasha felt a bit confused; her intuition told her that was not the case.
"I need to investigate Edward's interpersonal relationships and recent whereabouts in advance... Before the Church reacts, I need to see what other clues I can find." Pasha made up her mind and began walking toward Buer Street.
Like a normal Investigator, she lowered the brim of her hat, and after walking to a somewhat old tailor shop, she pushed the door open and walked in.
"Welcome... uh, My Lady, you aren't also here to ask about Edward's residence and his sister, are you?" The somewhat elderly shopkeeper rubbed his balding head and said helplessly, "Two groups of people already came to ask me just now, dressed the same as you."
"Oh..." Pasha nodded helplessly.
Those Investigators could always sniff out clues.
"Old man, I am indeed here to ask about Edward, but I'm asking about something else," Pasha said, taking a few pennies from her wallet and placing them on the wooden table in front of the old man. "Does Edward usually have any enemies?"
The old man looked at the few pennies on the table and pursed his lips, a look of slight disappointment on his face, as if he hadn't expected so little.
It was quite different from those generous gentlemen before.
However, he still accepted the pennies and replied, "Thank you for your... uh, generosity. They aren't exactly enemies, but the Foremen named Mike at the textile factory where Edward's sister works really made the siblings suffer."
"Edward's previous attempt to jump off the building might have been forced by him."
Hearing this, Pasha raised an eyebrow, seemingly interested in the topic: "Tell me more."
Pasha wanted to know what was so special about Edward that two agents from that mysterious organization had actually helped him.
Was it just a coincidence? Perhaps.
After carefully listening to what the old man said and finding out Mike's residence, Pasha decided to go scout the situation before the Investigators arrived.
Every person who had contact with Edward now had investigative value, but the Investigators had already gone to the most valuable leads.
Pasha had to think in reverse and start the investigation from the enemies. After all, Pasha had noticed many footprints on Edward's tattered jacket; perhaps they had encountered each other before.
Moving through the alleys of the Ivisa South District, Pasha soon arrived at the alley where Mike lived.
"Number 23... Number 24... Hmm, this is it." Pasha looked at the ajar door with some curiosity, feeling a faint sense that something was wrong.
