Chapter 40 - Chapter 40: The Noble Behind the Scenes, Bonsandi

"You want to talk to me alone? Talk about how to investigate my plan?" Syl silently grumbled in her heart, but still nodded and followed the Little Monster girl towards the round table.

The Lady with the Ox Mask, standing nearby, placed her right hand on her chest, looking in the direction Syl and the Little Monster Mask girl had left. She seemed worried, but she didn't rashly follow.

Even if she had a good impression of the Bird-Beaked Girl, she knew that a conversation of that level was not something she could interfere with.

After the commotion subsided, the others gradually returned to their usual selves, continuing the Salon as was customary.

However, everyone, including Tucker, intentionally or unintentionally kept their distance from the table where the two girls were seated.

Others wouldn't underestimate them just because of their youthful appearance. Unknown curses, ancient secret arts, potions from certain pathways, items with extraordinary properties... there were simply too many things that could grant eternal youth. Appearance was never a standard for judging strength; even an infant could bare fangs and kill you.

At this moment, the two girls were engaged in a careful probing at a corner round table.

"Miss Silver Crow, I apologize again for my earlier behavior," the girl Arno called Little Monster was the first to show goodwill to Syl. "If there's anything I can help with, please don't hesitate to ask. I will do my best to assist you."

Syl didn't want to reveal too much information by speaking excessively: "You don't need to get involved in the investigation."

"No, no, no, I completely trust your abilities... and the power of the organization behind you." As Little Monster said this, she rested her elbows on the table, leaned slightly forward, and looked directly at Syl.

This was a very direct questioning posture, clearly wanting an answer from Syl.

In Little Monster's view, this girl, who had never even activated Spiritual Sight and had no trace of extraordinary power, was unlikely to be investigating the Saintess of Hope alone.

Behind Silver Crow, there must be a powerful and mysterious organization providing her with assistance.

Otherwise, Silver Crow's actions and arrogant statements would be inexplicable.

Perhaps Silver Crow is crazy? No, a crazy person couldn't have investigated the Saintess of Hope's name so quickly. Even Little Monster herself was only informed of the Saintess's specific name that morning.

This indicates that the organization behind Silver Crow might have obtained information about the Saintess of Hope at the same time as her own organization, or even earlier.

Perhaps this opportunity could be used to try and establish contact with the organization behind Silver Crow. If cooperation were possible, that would be even better.

"Organization?" Syl repeated the word in her mind, a little confused.

How did she suddenly have an organization?

Did the Little Monster in front of her misunderstand something?

Syl looked at Little Monster, momentarily unsure what to say, only feeling sweat constantly beading on her forehead.

This mask is so hot... This is the first time I've felt this mask so hot... But it's good to have the mask covering me...

Syl's prolonged silence made Little Monster a bit anxious.

"Hmm... Miss Silver Crow, if I'm not mistaken, you are currently a one-star wanted person by the police department, aren't you?" Little Monster tried to avoid the term 'fugitive'. "To facilitate the mission, we will help you clear your wanted status tonight."

"Of course, I know that the organization behind Miss Silver Crow can also do this. I just want to express our sincerity." To avoid being misunderstood by Syl, Little Monster specifically added an explanation.

Syl: "..."

She inexplicably became a subordinate of a large organization, and then her wanted status was helped to be cleared?

Looking at the respectful demeanor of the mage who could instantly kill her, Syl couldn't imagine how she would be treated once the fact that she had no organization was exposed.

No, even if this organization is fake, it must be real today.

"Hmph... I really appreciate that," Syl said with a flippant tone after carefully choosing her words, "It saves me from getting my performance bonus deducted for reporting this matter."

"Performance... performance bonus?" Little Monster was stunned by the unfamiliar term.

Syl shook her head and explained, "Sigh... performance, simply put, is something used to quantify your contributions to the organization, such as whether you met mission targets, whether you diligently worked 996, whether you adhered to the organization's rules and 'Eight Honors and Eight Shames'. Make even one mistake, and those financial devils will deduct every bit of your bonus."

This explanation left Little Monster completely bewildered.

"Financial... uh... it sounds like a very strict and fair organization with clear rewards and punishments..." Little Monster felt her brain struggling to keep up with those terms. "What is 996?"

"Hmm, a system full of blessings," Syl shrugged and retorted, "Don't your organizations have these things?"

Hearing Silver Crow's retort, Little Monster's face under the mask flushed.

Just these bewildering terms made Little Monster realize that the organizational standards and strictness of Silver Crow's group were definitely beyond her imagination.

At least Little Monster felt that her own organization was not as strict as Silver Crow's, and had no so-called performance or bonuses... it seemed much more casual by comparison.

Especially hearing Syl's rhetorical question made Little Monster feel a bit embarrassed. It was like being asked by a princess from a castle, "Why don't you have a crown?"

"Stay calm, stay calm. At least my own organization has backing... it's also a relatively large reclusive organization in Suramar." Little Monster comforted herself internally.

"Oh, by the way," without giving Little Monster more time to think, Syl continued, "Can you also help remove the wanted status for my partner? If not, then forget it."

"Partner?" Little Monster's spirits immediately lifted, and she pressed, "May I ask who it is...?"

If she could learn more about the members of this organization, perhaps she could delve deeper into what kind of organization it was, making negotiations easier.

"The police department probably won't have her name or records, only her hair color," Syl recalled the police's interrogation that day, and continued, "Green shawl curly hair, red suit, height one meter seventy-eight."

Upon hearing this information, Little Monster's pupils under her mask instantly contracted.

"She, is she part of your organization?" Little Monster nodded, speaking casually, "She seems to have killed one of Bonsandi's lackeys? Lifting the wanted status isn't a problem; those nobles won't intervene in this matter."
