[A/N]: A triple-length release for the Climax of this Arc. Hope you guys like it!
[John POV]
"Rumours of my death were greatly exaggerated, fucker!" I roared through the rushing wind, flashing a blood-strained grin.
Nolan growled, blood seeping into his eyes as he instinctively loosened his grip to wipe his face. That brief moment was all that I needed.
Instantly activating Wind Flight, I rode a thermal updraft to get some distance from the now raging filicide.
I checked myself only to find I was literally held together by jagged scar tissue.
But having died, seeing Angy again, and showing all those Powerful ROBs what's what, I was no longer scared of Nolan.
It was strange. Instead of being angry or terrified, a bubbling, hysterical laugh crawled up my throat after experiencing so much, especially after I saw the items I had left in my inventory.
So, I quickly slotted in Lesser-Hydrokinesis. Using the ambient moisture from the dense clouds below us, I condensed torrents of water, compressing it all between my fingers, and sent a hyper-pressurized blast of water aimed exactly at Nolan's cut-open stomach.
The impact hit like a liquid laser, causing the grown Viltrumite to actually cry out in pain, clutching his gut as he halted in mid-air.
Finally getting some time, I quickly checked my abilities.
Only for most of them to be on cooldown, and the ones that I could use, there was the issue that I didn't have nearly enough energy to duke it out. Even if Omni-Man is heavily injured, he's still the great Nolan of Viltrum for a reason.
Greedy Healing could not be used since the funds were all gone, but Lucky Strike was still counting down for its one-hour duration.
"Shit on a stick!" I cursed, swiping away the notifications after being blasted by about a dozen messages of Feats.
I mean, I could burn every ticket I had, but I don't know…something… something was gnawing at me to fight, to beat the bastard in the most pathetic way possible. To break the fascists' pride…. yes!
Seeing Nolan charging at me again, a devious and super risky plan formed in my head.
I tapped into a technique so taboo back in my world it got people swatted: Rage Bait.
"Haha, is that all it takes to hurt you?!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, making sure my voice carried over the wind. "Don't tell me the great Nolan of Viltrum is afraid of a little tap water! What are you, the Wicked Witch of the West? You inbred, almighty domestic abuser!"
Nolan's head snapped up. His eyes were wide, veins bulging in his neck as the disrespect completely shattered his Viltrumite composure.
Between the curse gnawing at his sanity and the weapons-grade disrespect I was feeding him, Nolan was completely blinded by fury. It was time to make my play.
I quickly used my Tickets Please trait to bring a bronze ticket into the physical world.
"You see this, fascist, colonizing freak?! This shit right here is pure power! This is how I cursed your sorry ass!" I waved the bronze ticket in my hand.
Nolan's murderous expression as I weaved around him was pure gold. I was able to form slick the deflictions against his strikes using the ambient moisture.
I tore the ticket slowly- very slowly, almost savouring the moment.
[Regalia]
Uncommon Item
Final Fantasy - Do you want a badass supercar? Do you want it to fly? Well, you got the right vehicle then. This fully upgraded Regalia is a very powerful, durable, and most importantly, incredibly stylish car that can also drive itself. And even turn into a flying vehicle. The fuel tank gets refilled automatically every 8 hours.
'Cool, a ride when I have a walking, talking Pocket Dimension….'
I ignored the dream car of nerds and instead slotted in Steam Emission, blasting superheated vapor directly into the clouds below us.
That's the thing about being confident… you can sell shit.
But with my new skill Ace of all Trades, giving me expertise knowledge in mechanics, by combining superheated steam with cool atmospheric clouds, I indirectly generated immense pressure gradients to spark lightning, hail, and torrential downpours. The clouds around us turned pitch black as lightning began to gather.
"You see this, Nolan?!" I mocked. "One ticket, just one ticket and I have the power to control the fucking weather! Admit it, Nolan, you can't win!"
"Kaisen!!!" Nolan grunted.
He blitzed to tear me in half but I used Lesser-Hydrokinesis to make a dense layer of water droplets at a specific pressure. This caused the lightning to pass through them, getting conducted and forming a massive barrier of lightning to stop Nolan in his tracks.
He decided it was not worth the risk to go head-on, considering his injuries, so he dropped down below the clouds, flying at the highest speeds he could manage to shift the pressure, causing the clouds to dissipate.
"Control all the weather you want, sorcerer. Now that you've burned your precious ticket, I will kill you anyway!" He roared in triumph.
"Who said anything about just one ticket?"
I twitched a smile, egging Nolan on, and produced another bronze ticket.
[Power Pole]
Rare Item
Dragon Ball - An incredibly durable Bo Staff wielded by Son Goku (The Saiyan, not the god), that allows the user to freely extend its length by expending their energy.
Feeling the weight of the most iconic weapon from my favourite anime, my smile shifted from cocky to genuine, only confusing Nolan more.
"Say, Nolan," I called out, twirling the red staff "Have you heard of Son Goku?"
I commanded the air currents with Wind Flight, compressing a dense, rolling pocket of the storm cloud right beneath my boots. I leaned forward, surfing the sky exactly like a certain monkey-tailed kid riding his Nimbus.
Slamming Arc into my active slot as crackling blue lightning instantly coiled down the length of the red staff, filling the wet air with the sharp stench of burnt ozone.
Nolan tore through the clouds, swiping a bloody hand to snap my neck.
I didn't pull back as Sebas's brutal drills took over my muscle memory and shifted my weight on my cloud-board, banking hard to the right to slip past his guard.
Spinning with the momentum, I twirled the staff to seamlessly parry his follow-up strike before thrusting the tip straight at his chest.
Nolan effortlessly leaned back to dodge, his eyes mocking my short reach.
I just smirked and dumped my energy straight into the weapon.
The Power Pole violently shot forward like a lightning-clad piston, crossing ten feet of empty air in a second and slamming dead center into his cut-open stomach.
THWACK.
Nolan choked on a wet gasp. His entire body spasmed as the raw voltage coursed directly into his exposed intestines. He snarled, trying to power through the pain and flank my cloud, but I just banked hard to the left and fed the staff more energy.
It violently extended again and again, brutally jabbing that exact same bloody wound and forcing the invincible Viltrumite to furiously backpedal through the stormy sky.
I kept the pressure on with the Power Pole, but I needed something to truly break his focus. I reached in and pulled out another bronze ticket and tore it open.
[Induce Baldness]
Trash Ability
"A power so cruel" allows you to induce baldness within a target by making contact with them, whether that is making them lose hair over the course of a long time or instantly making all of their hair fall out. Beware, using this may make you the mortal enemy of most.
"This is Trash tier? Hahaha…" I laughed out loud.
To trigger it, I actually had to touch him. Willingly touching a Viltrumite in melee range was basically suicide.
Oh, RNGesus, you glorious bastard.
"Come here, you old fossil!" I yelled, retracting the Power Pole and leaving my guard completely wide open.
Nolan didn't hesitate as he surged forward, roaring as he threw a devastating right hook aimed to take my head clean off.
I ducked, feeling the wind pressure of his fist scrape my scalp, but I didn't try to attack him back.
But then my eyes drifted to Nolan's face. Specifically, to his upper lip— the absolute pride, joy, and symbol of status in Viltrumite culture.
Using the upward momentum of my rise, I reached out and slapped him clean across the mouth.
Nolan blinked. He actually stopped his follow-up swing, floating there with a look of pure confusion. The slap had literally zero kinetic force behind it.
"Is that..." Nolan started, his voice dripping with absolute disgust. "Is that really the best you can do, Kaisen? A slap?"
"Check your lip, Freddie Mercury," I grinned.
Nolan frowned. A strong gust of wind howled past us.
Suddenly, the majestic, thick Viltrumite mustache that had graced his face for hundreds of years simply detached. It crumbled off his upper lip like dry autumn leaves, blowing away into the stormy sky, leaving behind nothing but an aggressively bare and bald strip of pink skin.
Nolan reached up. His thick fingers brushed against his naked upper lip.
His eyes went wide. His pupils shrank to pinpricks. The sheer, cosmic horror of what had just happened completely short-circuited his conqueror brain.
"My... my mustache..." Nolan whispered, his voice trembling with a level of absolute devastation I hadn't even seen when he talked about his family. "YOU WORM! I WILL WEAR YOUR ENTIRE SKIN AS A CAPE!"
I was laughing so hard my broken ribs ached. "You look like a thumb with eyebrows! Oh my god, Debbie left you and now you're balding! The mid-life crisis is real!"
I quickly pulled a silver ticket next, raising it up.
"Now watch, Nolan! My upgraded tick..."
Nolan didn't care about my monologue. He blitzed, throwing a brutal hook aimed straight for my jaw.
I jerked back on my cloud, but my blood-slicked fingers slipped. The silver ticket peeled out of my grip, caught instantly by the roaring wind.
I didn't hesitate and completely dropped my defensive guard just to desperately lunge after a tiny scrap of paper. Nolan's knuckles grazed my ribs, cracking bone and sending a sickening shockwave through my chest, but I didn't even try to block. I just snatched the ticket out of the air, crushing it tight against my chest with a ragged, shaking gasp.
"Holy shit," I whispered to myself, pitching my voice perfectly for Viltrumite super-hearing to pick up. "If he grabs one of these... I'm completely fucked."
I looked up and instantly snapped my mouth shut, faking a terrified flinch, and saw Nolan hovering ten feet away.
He wasn't swinging. His bloodshot eyes slowly tracked from my bruised ribs down to the crumpled paper in my fist.
His posture shifted as a thousand years of combat instincts processed my desperate fumble. He wasn't just blindly raging anymore, he was calculating. He thought he had just discovered my absolute lifeline.
Before he could rush me to grab it, I tore the silver ticket apart.
[Great Soul Arrow]
Uncommon Ability
Dark Souls - Draw energy from your life and soul and shape it as a weapon. This is a more refined and potent version of the Soul Arrow, which forms an arrow-like projectile that can curve in the air towards targets. As the origin of the arrow is linked to the soul, its power scales with the might of one's soul in addition to their energy levels.
I felt a portion of my soul mould as a sharp energy emerged from it, resting near my soul, waiting to be called.
Reading the description, I couldn't help but smile.
The Rule of Cool trait hummed in my veins, casually bending the laws of physics just to set the stage. The howling, chaotic storm around me suddenly parted, creating a perfectly silent, stylized vacuum. My blood-soaked clothes fluttered as if caught in a slow-motion wind. I extended my left arm and hooked my right fingers back, drawing the taut string of an invisible bow.
The ambient lightning from the storm didn't just strike randomly. It bent to my aesthetic, arcing perfectly between my fingertips to form a crackling, glowing bowstring that absolutely shouldn't exist.
A sleek, blindingly bright silver arrow materialized across my knuckles. I locked eyes with the confused Viltrumite, soaking in the sheer cinematic weight of the moment.
"Fuga," I whispered.
I let my pinched fingers snap open. The soul-forged projectile launched straight at his gut, shattering the rain in a perfect, spiralling vacuum.
Nolan actually blinked. For a fraction of a second, the sheer, physics-breaking theatricality of the glowing bow made his brain stall.
Then, his survival instincts screamed.
He didn't try to tank it. He snapped the sound barrier, bursting sideways at Mach speed to let the silver streak pass.
But the Great Soul Arrow didn't care about linear trajectories. It banked at a sharp, impossible angle mid-air, tracking him like a heat-seeking missile.
Nolan cursed, slapping thick hands over his torn stomach to brace for the impact.
But this wasn't just some basic plasma blast. It was forged from my life force, scaling directly with the might of my soul. And right now? After dying, facing down cosmic gods, and dropping a lifetime of suicidal baggage? My soul was swinging heavy.
The silver arrow slammed into his blocking hand with the force of a magical artillery shell. The sheer, concentrated mass of soul-charged energy completely overpowered his guard, driving his own knuckles brutally into his exposed intestines as the projectile detonated.
"AHHHH!!!"
Nolan convulsed mid-air, a guttural, agonizing roar tearing from his throat as the blast violently ruptured his raw wound.
"See this?! These are the powers of my tickets, my sorcery! Admit defeat, Nolan, and I might consider sparing your dirty blood!"
That was the breaking point.
The pain didn't slow him down; instead, it just snapped his leash
He became a blur of red and white.
I felt his fist bury itself into my chest a full second before the sonic boom even reached my ears. All the air vanished from my lungs as the sheer kinetic force launched me out of the sky like a railgun slug.
I plummeted through the storm, slamming into the roof of a skyscraper so hard the bedrock rattled. Reinforced concrete buckled under my spine, steel beams snapped like dry twigs, and the entire top floor instantly caved in, swallowing me in a deafening avalanche of dust and twisted rebar.
I tried to lift my broken body, only for Nolan to come down, kneeing me directly in the stomach.
"That's payback for all those tricks, Kaisen."
I spat blood as I raised my fist, but Nolan caught it.
"Not so fast, are you?"
"You really need to catch up on the mythology of the planet you're trying to invade," I said as I half-opened my trapped fist.
In it, resting, was a needle-sized red twig, which suddenly expanded at a lightning-fast rate, hitting Nolan directly in the head where I had headbutted him earlier, sending him tumbling back.
I again manifested a red ticket as I struggled to get up.
"ENOUGH, you space fascist! This right here is the most powerful ticket I have! Once… WHOEVER tears it up will gain the power to kill every single one of your kind!"
My fingers shook as I tried to tear the ticket, but Nolan lunged forward and kicked me, sending me flying off the rooftop of the skyscraper.
The red ticket slipped from my grasp, fluttering in the air as we both plummeted toward the streets below. I reached out, thrashing desperately against the G-force in the freefall to grab it.
Nolan dove after me, swatting my arm away with a brutal backhand that dislocated my shoulder. The wind roared around us as we grappled in mid-air, a frantic, bloody scramble for a tiny piece of paper. I swiped at it, my fingertips brushing the smooth edge, but Nolan was faster.
He delivered a brutal dropkick midair, sending me crashing toward the pavement like a meteor, and snatched the ticket right out of the sky.
"Hmm, is this your so-called power? Is this your prized possession?!" Nolan bellowed. He was full of rage, tired, and damaged all over from fighting last night and now with me.
He just wanted to put me down. In front of my face, he tore the ticket into tiny pieces, expecting to hear a scream of terror or hurt from me.
But he heard something else.
"Ha... hahaha… HAHAHA!" I laughed from my lungs with pure relief.
"You retard! You actually fell for it!" I said as I saw the Curse Roulette start to spin.
Yes, the red ticket was none other than...
[The Cursed Ticket]
Uncommon Item
"Fancy your chances?" A ticket that, when torn, spins the Curse Roulette for the user, and automatically applies the result and the ticket they would have gotten to the recipient.
The same ticket I had held onto since my first act of kindness by giving food to the homeless man.
"RNGesus, if you ever had a shred of decency, help me with something useful," I whispered.
Meanwhile, Nolan was shocked, seeing a phantom red and black roulette wheel roll in front of him.
The heavy needle began to slow.
Tick... tick... click.
And as both of us held our breath, it landed on severity- Motherfucking-20.
[Collared]
Ultimate Curse
You are a slave to your Master- Debbie Grayson. Any command your master gives you, you automatically obey absolutely and are unable to cause harm to them. And if they die, you die.
Resolve: Get your master to free you or cheat death after they die
Seeing the roll land on the curse, I couldn't believe my eyes. If there was ever a time, I truly felt thankful and devoted to RNGesus, it was now.
'Nakime, where are you?' I said through our mental link.
'I'm right here, master… Ship is too weak to move, but I'm coming… I'm...'
'No, Nakime. Get back in the castle, it's your power, use it. And please get Debbie to me ASAP.'
"WHAT… what is this illusion?! Another one of those schemes?! No way a purebred Viltrumite can be a slave to someone!" Nolan said as he strained his muscles and chopped hard to cut me in half. "I'd rather die than be chained…"
"Nolan, stop!!"
A voice came out of nowhere, and Nolan's body froze right down to his breath. He moved his eyes to see Debbie; her clothes dusty, her bun undone, and her cast on her left arm had long cracks running through it.
"Nolan, please, I beg you to stop," she said as she came in front of Nolan.
"Oh, no need to beg," I said, wiping the coughed-up blood and pressing my hand on the raw scar on my waist. "He's now and forever your ever-obedient servant, after all…"
I stopped talking as I saw Nakime in a black and green skin-tight suit, with a hoodie covering her whole body from sunlight, limping over to me. I was quick to catch her in my arms.
"What… what is he talking about, Nolan?" Debbie asked.
"No... no... no... it can't be, it can't be true," Nolan muttered as his world view shattered, but Debbie's voice cut his thoughts.
"Tell me, Nolan, what is he talking about?"
"I've been cursed to be your servant. Any command you give me, I must obey absolutely, never able to cause harm to you. My life is tied to you now and forever; if you die, I die."
His booming warrior voice was completely gone. Nolan now spoke the words with a flat, robotic delivery, rattling off the terms of his own enslavement like a dead-eyed parrot, as he saw a ticket made of a platinum sheet appear in his palms.
Nolan made the connection between my powers and attempted to tear the ticket, but Debbie's command of "Stop" was still active, stopping him from any physical action.
I looked at the paralyzed conqueror, flashing my brightest, bloodiest smile.
"Debbie, would you be a dear and ask Nolan to hand over that ticket?"
Debbie looked at me, then down at the terrified alien god who had lied to her for twenty years. She swallowed hard, testing the terrifying weight of her new authority.
"Nolan," she said, her voice shaking just a little before turning ice-cold. "Give him the ticket."
Every single muscle in Nolan's neck bulged like thick steel cables. His eye twitched violently in pure, helpless rage.
He tried to crush the paper. He tried to lunge forward and rip my head off. But a thousand years of Viltrumite superiority, of conquering planets and acting like an untouchable god, completely collapsed under the weight of the curse.
His massive hand moved rigidly, completely against his will. He was forced to extend his arm. His thick fingers opened slowly, delicately placing the platinum ticket directly into my waiting palm.
I closed my hand over the prize.
Then, I reached out and gently patted the helpless Viltrumite twice on the cheek.
"Good boy," I grinned.
