Correct chapter, sorry for the confusion.
To retrieve the clones' memories, I need to make them disappear by touching them directly if I want a specific one and don't remember the order in which I summoned them (if there are many). I can also do it from a distance as long as I'm very clear about which clone I want to recover. Another way is to let the mana I gave them when I created them run out, which makes them disappear automatically. I can also have one of them meditate to recharge mana, and when I make it disappear, that mana will replenish my reserves.
I think if I have one or more clones meditate, I can practice my spells without worrying about mana depletion and would only have to deal with physical exhaustion. But for that, I can make some potions. The only thing I'm not sure about with potions is whether the same materials are still available as they were a thousand years ago. If not, I'll have to find a new potion with a similar function and try to make it.
The first clone I absorbed was the one studying charms. Receiving his memories was somewhat interesting; it was like watching a movie play at high speed, and I was the actress in it.
My clones had the same abilities as me, so they were capable of wandless magic. My clone had already read all the spells in the book and practiced them a few times until he got them right before going back to read the theory.
It was necessary for him to read everything because to keep the information in my mind palace, I need to read it carefully at least once.
The spells he learned in the first-year book were Wingardium Leviosa, which allows me to levitate objects; Alohomora, which allows me to unlock doors and windows; Reparo, which allows me to repair broken objects; Lumos, which allows me to create a small light at the tip of my wand or in the palm of my hand; and Nox, which allows me to extinguish the Lumos light.
They were all very simple spells that didn't take me long to learn, but I still needed to practice the movements with my wand.
It was almost midnight when I regained the memories of the last clone; all the first-year books were more theory than practice.
When I received the memories from the potions book, I realized there were hardly any potions or ingredients I recognized, so I would have to find a more advanced book on potion ingredients to learn their properties before attempting to brew any potions.
Before going to sleep, I left some clones to read books on history, laws, and customs. I also left another to practice with the wand and one more to meditate and fill its mana reserves, with instructions to cancel its invocation if it finished before I woke up. I did the latter because if my mana reserves are full, it doesn't matter if I sleep little or much; my body won't feel tired, allowing me to be more productive.
The next morning, I woke up at 5:30 a.m. I felt very relaxed and full of energy. When I turned to look at the meditating clone, I noticed it was gone, so I assumed that had woken me up. Since I didn't feel like sleeping anymore, I got out of bed and went to the bathroom to brush my teeth before putting on my training clothes. Only this time, I wouldn't use the protective gear, just the pants and shirt. After getting dressed, I left my room, and when I reached an area without portraits, I used the invisibility ability.
Once I became invisible, I headed to the Room of Requirement and requested a room to study and practice spells and potions.
The room had three distinct areas: one with several armchairs facing a fireplace and some bookshelves laden with books; another section with a workbench and a burner for my cauldron, ideal for brewing potions; and finally, the largest area with an open space and a practice dummy.
After confirming that everything I might need was there, I summoned seven clones with 10% of my mana and gave them the Transfiguration, Charms, Potions, Defense Against the Dark Arts, History of Magic, Astronomy, and Second-Year Herbology textbooks to study. Those who were purely theoretical were instructed to cancel their summons once they finished reading the book.
Then I created two more clones: one with 1% of my mana to meditate for a little over an hour, and another with 5% to meditate until full.
After organizing the clones, I left the Room of Requirement and headed towards the lake, as I wanted to get some exercise before breakfast, something I'd gotten used to thanks to Uncle Godric's classes.
I started running along the lake until I reached what looked like the Quidditch pitch. I ran around the pitch a bit, curious to see it; it was very imposing and large. It really piqued my interest in watching a match, but I suppose I'll have to wait until the start of the next school year.
On my way back, I bumped into an older boy jogging towards the Quidditch pitch with a broom in his hand. I waved as I passed him, and I noticed he seemed a little puzzled as he looked at me, but he waved back.
I returned to the castle still thinking about that boy, as he seemed vaguely familiar. It was only while I was showering that I remembered who he was: Oliver Wood, the captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team. I assumed he was training, since he seemed to be a big Quidditch fan, but I never imagined he would continue training even after the season had ended. I could only think of him as someone who truly loves and is dedicated to Quidditch.
When I got out of the shower, I felt a warm sensation spread through my body, and I also felt much more energetic. I think the first clone vanished, which allowed me to recover mana, filling my reserves to a little over 50% again, which will be very helpful until the second one ends.
I had barely finished getting ready when the lady in the portrait told me that Hermione was outside the door asking for me. I asked her to tell Hermione I'd be out in a minute, then went back to my room to absorb the clone I'd been practicing with my wand. I put my wand back in my bracelet and left the room to meet Hermione.
"Good morning, Selene. How was your night?"
"Good morning, Hermione. I slept very well, thank you. And you?"
Hermione and I arrived at the Great Hall chatting and laughing. Some of the students who saw me were curious about me, as some recognized me as the girl in the strange outfit with the eagle—or at least that's what I heard them murmuring.
I sat with Hermione at the Gryffindor table, and she introduced me to some of her classmates who were already there having breakfast.
The Gryffindor kids were a rather noisy and very fun group, especially the Weasley twins, who approached us as soon as they noticed us, introducing themselves in their unique way.
The twins made sure to tell me I was a very beautiful young woman as they offered me their wares, which made me laugh since I could tell they were very good salesmen and knew how to use their words to convince people.
While I was laughing at something George said, I felt a persistent gaze, and when I turned to see who it was, I noticed it was Harry and Ron standing near the table, looking at me in surprise. When I smiled and waved, they both blushed a little. I found it rather cute to see Harry get flustered, although I didn't understand why, since I think he only got flustered when he saw Cho. I never thought he was this nervous around all the girls.
Seeing Harry like that, I couldn't help but want to make him nervous more often so I could see his cute reactions, although I think if he knew what I was thinking, he'd probably get annoyed. But I can't help it because he really does look so cute.
