Chapter 41 - 41

Selene's clone smiled at the herbology teacher and replied,

"That's a good question, Professor Sprout... my observations aren't based solely on what I've seen in the fourth-year course... I have a method, which I refuse to reveal, that allows me to see what happens in every class of every year. That's why I'd like to especially congratulate Professors Sinistra, Vector, Babbling, and Professor Flitwich for their teaching methods and their complete impartiality when dealing with students."

He paused briefly to take a sip of water before continuing.

"Also Professor Moody, although his teaching methods are a bit 'unique,' I have to say that what he teaches and the way he teaches it makes his students retain more of that information... There are other professors who, even though their teaching methods are beyond reproach, still show some favoritism towards certain students, or rather, certain houses... I'm referring to Professors McGonagall and Sprout. I know they do it unconsciously, since I've also seen them be very strict with the students of the houses they head, but there have been some moments where they've shown favoritism on occasion, as well as being a bit harsher with some houses for the same reason they easily let members of their houses go... And speaking of favoritism..."

She paused and looked directly at Snape, who remained unperturbed.

"Professor Snape, I know you're a great Potions Master and that you expect great things from your students... but you must understand that not everyone has a talent for certain subjects. That's why I'd like to ask you to stop insulting students, as this, instead of making them more productive, only makes them anxious, which in turn causes them to make more mistakes. Above all, I hope that from now on your punishments will be the same for everyone and that you'll stop your obvious favoritism towards the Slytherin students. I also ask that you punish those same students when they do things for which they clearly deserve punishment. I've seen that the Slytherin students appreciate you, and I wouldn't want to have to replace their Head of House for these reasons, as these are matters that can clearly be resolved. Do you understand, Professor?"

Professor Snape looked at her without showing the slightest change in his expression and said calmly, as if they were simply talking about the weather,

"I understand, Miss Ravenclaw."

I glanced a little longer at the potions professor before looking at the divination professor, who, sensing my gaze, became more anxious.

" Professor Trelawney... please calm down... I know that divination is difficult to teach since to truly learn it one needs to have the gift for it, and that you do your best to try to get the students to learn about the subject... but I would recommend that you stop telling them that they are going to die every week, as this only makes the students take the subject less seriously, which affects their ability to pay attention when something is explained to them, and makes them see your class as just a place to pass the time without actually learning anything."

Professor Trelawney nodded vigorously

"Now I'd like to talk to you about some changes I'd like to make. This isn't something that can be done this year, but I'd like to implement it starting next year. First, we need a new history teacher. I have to admit that when I heard the history teacher was a ghost, I had high expectations, as I thought he could keep the students interested in the subject. But when I attended his class... I don't think I need to tell you how almost all the students use his class to sleep. I think this is because Professor Binns just monotonously reads from the books without really paying attention to the students."

I turned to Professor McGonagall

"Professor McGonagall, I think we could see if there are any older students who would like to take on part-time teaching assistant jobs. These students must meet certain requirements. I thought of this because I'd like to find an assistant for the remainder of the school year for history classes. To avoid disrupting your other classes, it would be best to find several students who could coordinate and teach those classes when they're free."

"I understand what you mean, Miss Ravenclaw. I'll post an announcement in the senior classes... As for how these students will be paid..."

"Don't worry, Professor. This won't affect the school budget. Since there are several changes I want to make, I've already authorized a budget increase with Gringotts. If any of you have any requests, you can let me know, or if you think of any later, you can bring them up at the next meeting, and if it's feasible, I'll approve it."

At that moment, Professor Hooch raised her hand and, after receiving a nod, said...

" I would like to request new equipment for the flying classes, as the current equipment is very old and some of it is already malfunctioning."

"That's something I'd already considered, Professor, and let me tell you that I've already placed an order for 50 new broomsticks, which will be arriving in the next few days. They're Nimbus 2000 models, so I expect that once they arrive, the old equipment will be taken out of service. We need to ensure the safety of the students when they take their lessons, as I've noticed that some have developed a slight fear of flying, but I'm not sure if it's a fear of heights or something they developed because of the faulty equipment in their flying lessons... I'm not blaming you, Professor, so please don't worry."

The clone seemed to remember something at the last minute and added.

"By the way, Professor Hooch, starting next year we'll be adding physical conditioning classes. I've noticed that many students lack stamina, and I don't know if you're aware of this, but I was taught that physical exercise is essential to becoming a good wizard, as it aids in the development of our magic. That's why I thought I'd hire another teacher to work alongside you, since each course will have a minimum of four of these classes per week."

"I understand, Miss Ravenclaw, and thank you for the brooms. I assure you they'll be put to good use."

"Since the topic of assistants has come up, I also want to tell Madam Ponfrey and Madam Pince that if either of you requires an assistant, you can tell the heads of house to post an announcement on the notice board in each of the common rooms, or if you prefer, in the classrooms for fourth year and above. It all depends on what you want in your assistant... I trust that Professor McGonagall will offer a fair wage, so there will be interested students... This applies to every professor who needs an assistant. I just hope that those who choose don't neglect their studies... Now then..."

She turned to look at Hagrid, letting out a sigh.

"Hagrid... I would like you to reconsider the kind of creatures you're showing the students..."

"What?" "But they're interesting, the students like them..."

"Hagrid!... I'm not saying they aren't interesting, it's just that showing those kinds of creatures to young students isn't appropriate... it might be fine to show them as long as the necessary precautions are taken and the necessary protocols are followed... but let's be honest, you're dealing with teenagers who like to ignore warnings, and some of them are so spoiled they think they can do whatever they want, and when something goes wrong, it won't be their fault... before you say anything, Hagrid, let me remind you of the trouble that happened with a hippogriff and the student Malfoy."

Hagrid seemed ready to protest until the hippogriff was mentioned.

"Also, Hagrid... I must ask you to stop crossbreeding creatures of different species... and I'm talking about Blast-Ended Skrewts... I don't know if you're aware of this or not, Hagrid, but doing so is against the law, and this doesn't just affect you as the one responsible, it also implicates Hogwarts as a whole for allowing something like this to happen. Besides, these creatures endanger the safety of the students...

"That's not true, they're so adorable they wouldn't hurt any student..."

"Hagrid... I'd like you to see this from a wizard's point of view, Hagrid... you must know that your build is very different from that of the students... they might not hurt you, but that's because you're much more resilient, and I think you should be aware of that... Hagrid, you have a great deal of knowledge about magical creatures, and I'm sure you can teach the students many things... I'm not asking you to stop teaching them about the creatures you had planned, but I would like you to..." Those creatures will be limited to theoretical knowledge, and in practice you'll show them some that are more docile."

" I... understand..."
