The third barked, he seemed like a supervisor "You two, don't get too close or you'll fall in, if this happens, your food on one of them"
The first guard chuckled, "Yeah, yeah, I heard that before, you know, it makes kind of sense, at least the way all those good-for-nothing peasants finally good for something, I mean, it's kind of disgusting, but still.."
"You can't get argue with the pay, am I right?, once you get used to it, the work is not a big deal, Anyway, it's their own damn fault I'll be hired by Sir Edrie, Pathetic, being so broke, you signed up for any weird task"

Before any of the guards had the chance to strike with me with their swords, I unsheathed my blood sword, and I spun and sliced the two closest men through my distance, killing them in the process,

The guards are mostly bronze-ranked adventurers, it is easy to deal with when comparing from my stats to theirs, I swung my blood sword to the last remaining guard and sliced through it's right hand, I strode over to him and grabbed him by the throat, lifting him off the ground as the pit descends further
The pit was quite deep, but that one guard I pushed off was shivered in fear, The source of their terror surrounded them, strange, humanoid monsters each spotting a metal collar, The monsters were busy feasting the corpse scraps that they been fed to notice the guard I pushed earlier,
But they finished that food eventually, and stared up the guard that I pushed earlier, and he screamed helplessly,
"Please spare my life, they will eat us" one of the guards call up, "just please, push the emergency button, would you?"
I looked over to where they pointed, A red button was set into a wall, the red paint had largely rubbed off, revealing a silver metal behind it, For so-called "emergency button", it looked like it been used a lot, Did people fall into the pit regularly?
I read the manual that was placed on the wall, above the emergency button, it clearly said electric shock, I can clearly tell what has been used for
"I think that the button is connected to the collars attached to the monster's necks, If I push that button, I will send a electric shock down their spines, am I correct?"
There, the guard that I gripped it's throat nodded, there, I released the grip from the man's throat, falling through the pit along with his partner,
I left the button untouched, as I dropped one of the guards in the pit, With the corpse of the forsaken chewed down the bone, the strange monsters turned towards the guards, their long tongues dangled through the floor, as they moved closer
"Please, have a heart, push the goddamn button"
"I can't do this anymore, I didn't signed up for this shit" one of the guards shouted, pleading for help
The monsters didn't kill the men with any particular speed, They bashed the workers around, crushing their bones through the floor, relishing the pain, It was almost as through they were channeling from their own abuse, giving back the agonies inflicted upon them, the monster were much, much smarter than they appeared
With the echoes of the guards dying screams rang in my ears, I turned back at the pit, and slowly drained the guards that I have slained, this is not part of the mission overall, but I still manage to control the urges of the Blood Curse

The blood was tasty as expected, as I remember from my second evolution, my taste from blood is improved, enhancing the taste of both savory and sweet, much like the skewers I tasted back in Town Allure
