Night had fallen.
The sky trembled in silence, a thin golden fracture pulsing between the stars.
The Night of Ascension.
Dorum and Selvan remained at a distance, monitoring the shifting aura around the forest. Neither spoke. Neither needed to.
Something inevitable had begun.
Kai walked down the narrow path toward the clearing.
Each step was steady—but not light.
He could feel it.
The pressure in the air.The weight of something watching.
Nyari was already there.
Sitting by the edge of the small lake, her reflection trembling with the golden light above.
She looked up as he approached.
"Kai…"
A pause.
"Are you ready?"
Kai didn't answer immediately.
He stood beside her. Quiet.
Then, softly—
"Nyari…"
"We're not going to go through this again."
She blinked.
"How can you be so sure?"
Kai's gaze stayed forward.
"Because I'm not just fighting the god."
A small breath.
"I'm fighting myself too."
That made her freeze.
Kai turned to her.
There was darkness in his eyes—but it wasn't wild anymore.
It was calm.
Controlled.
And this time… he didn't hide.
"I love you, Nyari."
Silence.
Her breath stopped.
Her hands trembled as they rose to her lips.
"Y-you… what did you just—"
"I'm done hiding it."
He stepped closer.
"When I was lost in my own darkness… you pulled me back."
"You became my light."
A tear slipped down her cheek.
Before she could even think—
She moved.
Wrapped her arms around him.
Pressed herself against his chest.
"I loved you first…"
Her voice broke.
"…from the beginning."
Kai held her tighter.
"Then don't be afraid."
"Tonight… we end this."
The sky split open.
A pillar of gold descended.
The ground shook.
Even the shadows turned radiant.
A voice echoed across the forest—
"Vessel."
"Make your choice."
Nyari tightened her grip.
"Don't go… please…"
Kai rested his hand on her head.
"I'm not leaving."
"I'm fighting so I can stay."
His eyes darkened.
Black energy spilled from his shoulders.
Jinwi spoke.
"Carrier. Synchronization stable."
"Engagement permitted."
Kai exhaled.
"Then we begin."
The Light Deity descended.
A faceless golden figure standing before them.
"Vessel…"
"I see you've chosen darkness."
Nyari stepped forward.
"I chose Kai."
"That's all."
Silence.
Then—
The deity turned.
"Human."
"You have stained what belongs to me."
Kai stepped forward.
"She saved me."
"I'll do the same."
Jinwi's voice cut through the air:
"MOVE."
"OR I ERASE YOU."
The Light Deity responded calmly:
"You overestimate your reach."
Jinwi answered—
cold.
"I don't estimate."
"I delete."
It started instantly.
A golden lightning strike fell.
Kai shattered it with a single punch.
The impact tore through the forest.
BOOM—
He vanished.
Reappeared behind the deity.
Struck.
The body shattered—then reformed.
"Impressive."
"But insufficient."
Kai narrowed his eyes.
"We're just getting started."
The battlefield collapsed into chaos:
• Spears of light raining down• Black shockwaves ripping through space• Time itself stuttering• Ground splitting apart• Aura layers breaking one by one
Kai's breathing grew heavier.
His body… slower.
Jinwi's voice lowered.
"Carrier… strain detected."
Kai ignored it.
Drove forward.
Again.
Again.
Again.
Until—
The Light Deity raised its hand.
Everything stopped.
Silence.
Then—
A single golden pulse.
It didn't explode.
It pressed.
Kai's body froze mid-step.
His muscles locked.
His aura… suppressed.
Nyari's eyes widened.
"Kai?!"
The deity spoke quietly:
"You are not fighting me."
"You are resisting inevitability."
Kai tried to move—
Couldn't.
His right arm trembled violently.
Cracks of black energy spread across it.
Jinwi's voice, for the first time—
tense.
"Synchronization… destabilizing."
Kai gritted his teeth.
"Not… yet…"
The deity stepped closer.
"Your body is breaking."
"Your will is admirable."
"But meaningless."
Nyari screamed:
"STOP!!"
Golden light flared—
but this time, it didn't obey her.
Her own aura… split.
Kai saw it.
And something inside him snapped.
"JINWI."
"NOW."
Silence.
Then—
"…Accepted."
Darkness erupted.
Not outward.
Inward.
Kai's body bent under the pressure.
His scream didn't come out.
His eyes—
one vanished into complete black.
The other barely human.
Aura exploded.
For a moment—
he moved again.
Fast.
Too fast.
He reached the deity—
and struck.
"NULL—STRIKE!"
BOOOOOOOOM—
The golden form shattered—
cracked—
broke—
And then…
reformed.
Perfectly.
Unharmed.
Silence fell.
Kai dropped to one knee.
His arm… barely holding shape.
Jinwi went quiet.
Completely.
The Light Deity looked down at him.
"For a human…"
"…you reached far."
Nyari ran to him.
"KAI!"
Kai tried to stand.
Failed.
Blood hit the ground.
He looked up—
still defiant.
The deity turned away slightly.
"Vessel."
"The night is not over."
"This was only a warning."
Golden light rose back into the sky.
The fracture remained.
Unclosed.
Nyari held Kai as he collapsed against her.
"Kai… no… no…"
Kai forced a weak breath.
"…Didn't lose."
A faint smile.
"…Just not done yet."
His vision blurred.
Darkness creeping in again.
But this time…
it wasn't just Jinwi.
Above them—
the golden crack pulsed once more.
Stronger.
Wider.
And something else…
was watching.
