I gritted my teeth, fists clenched so tight I could hear my knuckles crack. "You make it really obvious how much you want to keep him locked up," he added.
"Shit," I hissed under my breath, turning away. Conan had hit me hard. I always forget how strong he really is beneath all that beautiful. But that wasn't what hurt most.
What hurt was the lock clicking behind him as he fled.
I stalked down the hallway, following the scent trail until I landed outside the door he'd slammed. My heart was pounding too fast. My instincts screamed to rip the door down—but I forced myself to knock first.
"Conan, please open the door!"
"Go fuck yourself!" he snapped back immediately.
I took a breath. "You agreed we'd talk these things out if we got in a fight. Are you really gonna break the deal?"
