Evelyn let out a shaky breath and picked up the hairdryer. She was halfway through drying her hair when the doorbell rang. Standing in the hallway was Dominic, clutching a bag of fresh clothes. He looked at Evelyn in her bathrobe, then glanced toward the sound of running water in the suite.
"President...?" Dominic stammered, his eyes wide with a mix of confusion and "I-knew-it" realization.
Evelyn didn't say anything to Dominic. She snatched the shopping bag from his hands, her face flushed with a mix of embarrassment and lingering adrenaline. "He's not in!" she snapped at the assistant, whose face was a map of barely-concealed gossip. She slammed the suite door in his face before he could utter a word of "ambiguous" commentary.
Inside, she scrambled to change out of the bathrobe. She had just shed the cloth, when the bathroom door swung open. Michael stood there, dripping and candid, his eyes narrowing as they met hers.
He had timed it. She was certain of that.
