Tessa stood at the edge of the cliff, waiting to see whatever crazy thing Leonard was planning.
Since they were both going down there, he wouldn't simply risk her life... right?
She sincerely hoped she wasn't being delusional.
Maybe he actually valued her life.
"Come closer. I'm going to carry you down," Leonard said calmly.
Tessa blinked.
Her feet, however, refused to move.
They remained firmly planted where she stood.
Leonard sighed softly before walking toward her. He was still in his human form and hadn't transformed into his beast form yet, which made Tessa feel slightly less nervous.
Slightly.
"I'm with you, Tessa," he said. "Are you afraid I'll drop you?"
Tessa immediately forced an awkward smile.
"No, not at all."
Leonard raised an eyebrow.
"Then what's the problem?"
"It's just..." she pointed downward. "Isn't that tree too small for two people?"
The snake beastman chuckled.
Honestly, Tessa was beginning to regret asking to come.
