Coming back from the market with the groceries was nothing short of a full-blown nightmare for Tessa. She had gone there thinking it would be a simple trip—get food, avoid drama, come back alive. That was it. Not easy. At least manageable.
What she did not expect was to return looking like some overworked war general leading a defeated army back from battle.
They had bought a lot. Not—too much. Enough to feed a small kingdom. Or start one.
And for some ridiculous reason, she had decided not to just stand around like a "fragile human decoration," as she liked to call it. No. She had to carry something. Her pride, unfortunately, was heavier than any sack.
Even though the men had left her the lightest load, it still felt like she was carrying the entire Beastworld on her shoulders.
It wasn't funny.
