Ananke, seated upon her throne inside her Gate of Fate and Secrecy, watched over her Blessed with a complicated expression.
Cassius was sleeping soundly now, his chest rising and falling in a steady rhythm. For once, he wasn't snoring.
And Ananke, against her own will, found herself missing that grating, shrill sound. It was strange. But it was true.
