All of a sudden, she felt something collapsing in her heart.
Embarrassment and shame surrounded her. She could not breathe for a moment.
Her intention was to give him a gift, and she was suffering from debts because of this.
Yet, he spoke with such disdain.
This was the most painful experience she would ever feel in her heart.
How could he say it so easily?
She closed her eyes in pain.
"Yes, I borrowed money from others, and then return it to them frugally. I pretended to be rich knowing that I couldn't afford it."
She suddenly turned around, and the coldness in her eyes was something he had never seen before.
Christopher was stunned.
It was only at that moment that he realized that he was hurting her while he just merely wanted to know the reason behind it.
"Janice..."
Christopher panicked, "I..."
"But I've done so much. Do you know why?" Janice interrupted.
