The next day, Ken woke up to a bright, sunny morning. He stretched on the bed for a while before sitting up as he squeezed his eyes shut.  


Ken opened his eyes. Jake stood in front of him with a cup of coffee.  


"Good morning… you're up early," Ken muttered, reaching for the coffee.  


"Did you forget? We're leaving today. We have a flight to catch by 10," Jake said.  


Ken reached for his phone and checked the time.  


"Wait… it's almost 9. Why didn't you wake me?" Ken scrambled out of the bed.  


"Hey, calm down, baby," Jake said, his voice a soothing balm against the sudden spike of adrenaline rushing through Ken's veins. 


"It's not okay!" Ken panicked as he stared at the digital clock on his phone screen. 8:53 AM. "The airport is at least forty-five minutes away from here, and that's if traffic is merciful, which it never is! We haven't even packed, I haven't showered, and—"
