Chapter 116 - Chapter : The Mirror and the Titan

Previously on Watcher of the Infinite...

My name is Pendo, and I am the fastest woman alive. My speed was restored the moment I guided Mike and Cate to find forgiveness, healing a wound in time that had festered for centuries. But the mission wasn't over. I had to go back and bring my father home. We were needed.

I reached Earth-12 and finally found my father, Carel, and our family. The situation was deteriorating; every second we stayed was a second the multiverse couldn't afford. "Father, let's go home," I urged. We began to run, circling in a clockwise direction until the fabric of reality tore open, revealing the portal back to our timeline. But my father had a different motive. At the last second, he pushed me through the portal, staying behind. "One day you will understand," he shouted as the rift closed. "I will be the one holding the future. I must find my mirror—he is the key to saving us all. Run, Pendo, run!"

I returned to my messy world at 11:45 PM. To them, I had been gone only an hour, but I returned to a nightmare. "Welcome back, Speedster Supreme," the voice of my ally greeted me. "How was your journey seeking your father? I am his mirror evolution; we share heart and mind. He is the key—he must find the Watcher and end this war forever." But time is running out. Lucifer is growing in power, ascending to become the most powerful Titan to ever exist.

The smoke over the Nairobi CBD wasn't just gray anymore; it was a sickly, pulsating purple, reflecting the dark, unholy ascension of Lucifer. I skidded to a halt in the center of the Town Square, the rubber of my boots smoking against the cracked, heated tarmac. The air tasted like bitter ozone and the ancient dust of a world being ground to a halt. The clock on a nearby bank building flickered: 11:45 PM. I had lived a lifetime in the past, traveling through the spirit realm and ancient caves, but here in the war zone, the hands of the clock had barely moved sixty minutes.

I looked at the Speedster Supreme, the man who carried my father's face but an entirely different, more clinical destiny. He stood amidst the rubble of the fallen statues, his own speed-lines flickering with a cold, silver light that looked like moonlight trapped in a circuit board. He didn't have the warmth of my father, but he had the same iron jaw and the same look of heavy responsibility.

[ADVANCED RAW SYSTEM: REALITY CHECK]

LOCATION:Nairobi War Zone (The Zero Point).

TIME:23:45 HRS (15 Minutes to Doomsday).

STATUS:Lucifer Ascension: 85.7% Complete.

CURRENT OBJECTIVE:Hold the Line / Await Carel's Mirror Signal.

SYSTEM NOTE:Buda! You're back in the thick of it! Earth-12 was a vacation compared to this chaos. Lucifer isn't just a villain anymore; he's a Titan-class threat, a 'Majini' of cosmic proportions. If he hits 100%, even the Goddess of Love won't be able to find a single heartbeat in this city. Your dad stayed back for a reason—he's hunting the 'Watcher' through the Mirror Dimension. You need to keep Lucifer busy without getting erased from existence!

ATMOSPHERE NOTE:The night is suffocating, heavy with the smell of burning tires and magic. The streetlights are dead, but the city is lit by the purple fire of the Titan. People are hiding in the basements of the skyscrapers, praying to a God they hope is listening. It's time to show them that the lightning hasn't forgotten the streets! Kaza butu!

"He pushed you through, didn't he?" The Speedster Supreme asked, his voice a haunting, metallic echo of my father's. He didn't seem surprised; he seemed like a man reading a map he had already memorized.

"He said he had to find his mirror," I gasped, the white-gold lightning still crackling violently off my skin, jumping to the nearby rubble. My chest was heaving, my heart trying to adjust to the sudden shift in atmospheric pressure between Earth-12 and this hellscape. "He said he's the key to the future. But look at this place! Lucifer is tearing the very sky apart. We don't have time for scavenger hunts in the Mirror Dimension! We need him here, now!"

As if answering my shout, a roar shook the very foundation of the KICC and sent tremors all the way to Upper Hill. Lucifer stood atop the ruins of the Parliament buildings, his form towering over the city like a skyscraper made of nightmare. He wasn't just a man in armor anymore; the armor had become his skin. His flesh had turned to black obsidian, glowing with glowing runes of the Void that bled purple light. He was a Titan, his every breath sending shockwaves of negative energy through the estates of Nairobi, shattering windows from Westlands to Embakasi.

"Pendo..." Lucifer's voice boomed, vibrating in my very marrow, sounding like the grinding of tectonic plates. "The girl who ran through the centuries only to return to a grave. Your father has abandoned you to a dying world. He has left you to watch the final sunset."

"He didn't abandon me!" I yelled back, my voice amplified by the Velocity Force, ringing out across the empty, war-torn streets. "He went to find the one thing you're terrified of! He went to find the truth!"

[SYSTEM INTERFACE: TITAN COMBAT PROTOCOL]

ENEMY:Lucifer (Titan Evolution Phase).

THREAT LEVEL:Extinction-Class.

TACTIC:High-Frequency Kinetic Strikes / Disruption.

WARNING:Do not engage in a direct power struggle. His 'Void Grip' can drain the Goddess mantle in a matter of seconds. Use your speed to create a 'Light Barrier' around the CBD to protect the survivors!

SENG NOTE:Aki, look at that guy! He's bigger than the Times Tower now! If he steps on us, it's game over for real. But remember, the faster you run, the harder it is for the darkness to catch your shadow. This is the ultimate 'Hustle' for the soul of the 254. Tunasonga na imani!

I didn't wait for him to strike. I leaned forward, the ground beneath my feet shattering into a thousand pebbles as I broke the sound barrier instantly. I wasn't just running; I was a ribbon of iridescent light wrapping around the Titan's obsidian ankles. I moved so fast that I created a cyclone of white-gold energy, a swirling vortex of wind and electricity meant to destabilize the ground he stood on.

But Lucifer just laughed, a sound that cracked the pavement for blocks. He raised a massive hand, the size of a city bus, and the shadows of the skyscrapers rose up like black spears, trying to impale me mid-stride.

"I share his heart and mind, Pendo!" the Speedster Supreme shouted, joining the fray as a silver blur that moved in perfect synchronization with my own movements. "He is my mirror, and I am his. If Carel finds the Watcher in the Mirror Dimension, he can reset the Titan's core from the inside out. We just have to survive until the stroke of midnight!"

Twelve minutes. Twelve minutes to hold back a god-killer while my father chased a legend through a world of glass.

I pushed my speed to the absolute limit, my vision blurring as the world turned into a kaleidoscope of neon fire and purple shadows. I ran past the boarded-up shops of River Road, past the empty matatu stages where ghosts of the city's hustle still lingered. I saw the people trapped in the buildings—mothers holding their children in darkened hallways, shopkeepers clutching their charms and bibles. I felt their fear like a cold wind, but I also felt their hope. It was a tiny, flickering spark, but as the Goddess of Love, that spark was more powerful than any fuel.

I tapped into the Mirror Connection, the invisible thread that linked me to my father. I could feel him running too—not through the streets of Nairobi, but through a world of infinite reflections, shattering glass barriers as he searched for the ancient entity known as the Watcher.

[SYSTEM STATUS: DIVINE SYNERGY]

USER:Pendo.

STAMINA:58% and dropping.

LUCIFER PROGRESS:91.2% (Void Peak Approaching).

SYSTEM NOTE:The Titan is charging a 'Void Pulse'! If that blast hits the ground, the whole of Nairobi from Uhuru Park to the deepest parts of Eastlands is gone! You need to vibrate at the 'Forgiveness Frequency'—the one you used in the caves—to nullify the blast. It's a suicide move, Pendo, but you're the only one who can tune the lightning to that frequency!

SENG NOTE:Wueh! This is the part of the story where the hero does the impossible thing. You have the heart of a mortal and the power of a Goddess. Don't let that Titan take our city, maze! Kaza roho, Pendo! One more sprint for the future!

"Dad, wherever you are... find him now! The clock is ticking!" I screamed into the void, my voice lost in the roar of the lightning.

I saw Lucifer's chest begin to glow with a dark, terrifying sun, a sphere of nothingness that threatened to swallow all light. The Void Pulse was ready. The air around him began to disintegrate, turning into black ash. I stopped running in circles and turned my gaze toward the center of the storm. I headed straight for the Titan's heart. I wasn't running to escape anymore; I was running to collide.

"Run, Pendo, run!" my father's voice echoed in my mind, a phantom command vibrating from Earth-12 through the Mirror Dimension.

I closed my eyes, let the white-gold lightning consume me until I was nothing but a bolt of pure intent, and I jumped into the heart of the darkness.
