Chapter 76 - Episode 77: The Children the Circle Couldn’t Control

💔 The Contract Groom

The forest trembled beneath the storm.

Rainwater dripped slowly from broken branches while distant gunfire echoed far behind them near the burning road.

But inside the darkness between the trees—

everything felt strangely still.

Aryan stared at Mira without blinking.

Years of forgotten memories crashed violently inside him now.

The laboratory.

The puzzles.

The matching pendants.

Her laughter.

And then—

her screams.

"You remembered everything?" he asked quietly.

Mira nodded once.

"Every experiment."

Lightning flashed across her face.

And for a split second—

Sasmita noticed something terrifying in her eyes.

Not fear.

Not weakness.

Survival.

The kind born only after enduring unimaginable pain.

Aryan stepped closer slowly.

"Then why didn't you find me earlier?"

Mira's expression darkened slightly.

"Because they were watching you."

"The Circle?"

"No."

A faint pause followed.

"…Ravan."

The atmosphere shifted instantly.

Behind them, Sasmita's eyes narrowed sharply.

"You're saying Ravan kept you away from him?"

Mira looked directly at Aryan.

"He erased your identity to protect you."

Another pause.

"But he erased me completely."

Aryan froze.

"What do you mean?"

Mira slowly lifted her sleeve.

Scars.

Burn marks.

Injection lines.

Years of damage hidden beneath pale skin.

"When the project collapsed…"

Her voice became colder.

"…the Circle considered me unstable."

Another memory struck Aryan instantly.

Scientists screaming as electronic systems failed around young Mira.

Glass shattering without physical contact.

Lights flickering violently.

His breathing slowed.

No…

Project Aryan wasn't only about intelligence.

It was evolving children differently.

"Your emotional responses affected neural systems," Mira said softly.

"As if your brain controlled patterns…"

A faint smile touched her lips painfully.

"…mine disrupted them."

Sasmita frowned immediately.

"That's impossible."

"Not for the Circle."

Another thunderous crack split the sky.

Back near the battlefield—

Professor Veer looked increasingly disturbed.

"She shouldn't be here," he muttered.

Nandu smirked faintly despite the chaos.

"So the great Professor finally fears something."

Veer ignored him completely.

His eyes remained locked toward the forest.

"You don't understand."

Sriyansh stepped closer coldly.

"Then explain."

For the first time—

Professor Veer hesitated.

Then finally—

he spoke quietly.

"Mira wasn't supposed to survive emotional awakening."

Silence.

"The serum reacted differently inside her."

A pause.

"She developed unpredictable neurological resonance."

Even the Circle guards nearby looked confused.

Veer's jaw tightened.

"She could interfere with cognitive synchronization."

Nandu frowned immediately.

"Meaning?"

Professor Veer looked toward the burning battlefield darkly.

"She destabilizes conditioned minds."

And suddenly—

everything made sense.

The transformed operatives losing control.

The unstable aggression.

The broken programming.

It started after Mira appeared.

Back in the forest—

Aryan slowly understood it too.

"You caused the serum soldiers to lose control."

Mira didn't deny it.

"They lose emotional suppression around me."

Sasmita stared at her carefully now.

"So you're basically their weakness."

Mira's expression became distant.

"No."

A faint pause.

"I remind them they were human."

That sentence hit harder than expected.

Aryan looked at her silently.

Because for the first time—

he realized she carried pain far deeper than his own.

He lost memories.

Mira remembered everything.

Every scream.

Every experiment.

Every dead child.

Then suddenly—

a loud explosion echoed from the road behind them.

Flames rose higher into the stormy sky.

Sasmita turned sharply.

"We need to go back."

But Mira immediately stepped forward.

"No."

Her tone changed instantly.

Serious.

Urgent.

"They're activating Protocol Zero."

Aryan's eyes narrowed.

"What is that?"

Mira looked directly into his eyes now.

"The Circle's final contingency."

Another memory surfaced inside Aryan violently.

A hidden laboratory chamber.

Emergency alarms flashing red.

Scientists panicking.

Then Professor Veer saying coldly—

"If Aryan becomes uncontrollable… initiate Zero."

His heartbeat slowed dangerously.

"What does it do?"

Mira's expression became grim.

"It kills every surviving project subject."

Silence.

Sasmita felt cold instantly.

"How?"

"Neural kill-switches."

Aryan's eyes widened slightly.

No…

Mira pointed slowly toward the scar near her neck.

"The injections carried dormant signal receptors."

Another horrifying realization hit him.

The project children had never truly escaped.

The Circle always planned a way to erase them remotely.

Then suddenly—

Aryan's own neck began burning painfully.

He staggered instantly.

Sasmita grabbed him quickly.

"What's wrong?"

He pressed a hand against the side of his neck.

Breathing uneven.

Pain spread sharply beneath his skin.

Mira's expression changed instantly.

"They already activated it."

At the battlefield—

Professor Veer suddenly shouted sharply toward his remaining Circle guards.

"Find Aryan NOW!"

Even Ravan's expression darkened instantly.

"What did you do?"

Veer looked genuinely tense now.

"If Protocol Zero fully activates…"

A pause.

"…both Aryan and Mira will die within hours."

The storm roared violently across the night.

Because somewhere hidden beneath years of lies—

the Circle had placed a countdown inside the children they created.

And now—

time itself was hunting them.
