Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Sweet and Sexy

"Hearing you scream my name like that… it is everything." Oliver said breathlessly. "Yeah, was it sweet and sexy wrapped into one?" Harper asked teasingly and breathlessly, her voice hoarse from screaming his name. Oliver let out a low chuckle, the sound vibrating through his chest where she was still pressed against him. He pulled back just enough to look into her blue green eyes, a genuinely satisfied smile spreading across his lips. "Sweet and sexy?" he repeats. "That is exactly what it was," he confirmed, brushing a damp strand of auburn hair off her forehead. "You are like some kind of magical creature who knows exactly how to drive me absolutely insane." His thumb traced the curve of her jaw gently. "Sweet because you call me 'my Oliver' like it was the most natural thing in the world. And sexy because you came undone on top of me like that." He shifted slightly, still connected to her intimately as he adjusted the blankets around her shoulders. "It felt like the most natural thing in the world," Harper replied casually. "And I am glad you though I was sexy, that was my intention," she said with a smirk and a mischievous glint in her blue green eyes. Oliver took a deep breath, her words making him feel like the Luckies man alive. "I am going to have a very hard time focusing on work tomorrow knowing I get to hear that sound from you every night." Oliver admits with a deep voice.

"It is going to be hard for me too. You are so attractive when you are in charge," Harper confesses and looks at him through her fluttering eye lashes. Oliver's expression softened instantly at her admission, a rare warmth creeping into his usually cold features. The vulnerability in her voice seemed to melt away some of his own guardedness. "In charge?" he repeated with a low laugh, nuzzling into her neck. "You think I am attractive when I am bossing you around? That is an interesting kink you have got there." His hands began tracing lazy patterns along her back as he held her close. "I will have to remember that for future reference. Maybe I should start ordering you around more often in bed." The teasing suggestion was delivered with a playful glint in his icy blue eyes, though his grip on her remained gentle and protective. Harper looked at him with a relaxed smile on her face.

He shifted slightly, pulling the beige covers higher over both of their shoulders. "Seriously though," Oliver said more softly, pressing a kiss to her temple. "I like hearing you say that. That you find me attractive when I am taking charge. It makes me feel…" he pauses, searching for the right word. "Wanted. Like you actually see me for who I am, not just the CEO who signs your paychecks." His arms tightened around her possessively, as if afraid se might disappear if he let go. The vulnerability in his voice was a rare sound; one he rarely allowed himself to show. "You are the first person in years who has made me feel like this," he admitted quietly, his breath warm against her skin. "Like I am not just some workaholic older man but actually… desirable." He shifted slightly, pulling back just enough to look into her blue green eyes with an intensity that made her heart skip. "So, thank you for that. For making me feel young again."

Harper smiled softly at him. "Anytime," she mumbled tiredly and yawned lightly. "I am only being honest, but I am happy it makes you feel young again." Oliver's expression softened completely at her soft smile and gentle yawn, a rare genuine smile spreading across his own lips. He brushed a hand through her messy hair tenderly, his touch not gentle and protective rather than demanding. "Anytime?" he repeated with a low chuckle, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "I am going to hold you to that. You have no idea how much I needed this– someone who isn't intimidated by me or just wants something from me." His arms tightened around her possessively as he felt her body relax into sleepiness. "Come on, let's actually get some sleep. We both have early mornings tomorrow, and I would rather not show up to work looking like I have been up all night having the best sex of my life." He shifted slightly to reach for the bedside lamp, plunging the room into near darkness except for the dim flow filtering through the blinds.

"Good night," Harper mumbled, and she got comfortable in Olivers arms. She was surprised by how comfortable she was. She had never fallen asleep in another man's arms, not sober at least. During her causal sexual encounters, she had always felt too uncomfortable in someone else's bed or by their presence, but now she felt her body relax easily. After a few minutes she easily fell asleep in Olivers embrace, her head resting comfortably against his chest. Oliver watched as her breathing evened out, the tension melting from her features as sleep claimed her completely. A sense of profound peace settled over him, something he had not felt in years. The usual rigidity in his shoulders softened, and he carefully adjusted the blankets to cover both of them more securely. For a long time, he simply held her, listening to the steady rhythm of her breaths against his chest. The familiar weight of responsibility that usually kept him awake seemed distant tonight. In this quiet darkness with her body curled trustingly against his own, he felt something approaching contentment. He placed a gentle kiss on the crown of her head, inhaling the scent of her auburn hair mixed with the musky aftermath of their lovemaking. It was a smell he already associated with homecoming. Falling asleep next to a woman wasn't something new for Oliver, although it had been a couple of years since. His previous girlfriend had been very controlling and manipulative. She had disrupted his life in any way she could, and his work had suffered. He decided long ago he wouldn't let that happen again, but here he was…
