Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

Mark was wearing a black hoodie and a cap. He closed the light in his room and got out of the house through the window. Looking down at the great height, he took a deep breath. As he exhaled, he started imagining how to fly. When he finally opened his eyes, he saw that he was now floating in the sky.

With that, he decided to fly up fast. But because he was still new to this, he flew up so high that he passed through the clouds. He was only able to stop at the last second by tensing his entire body when he realized he was getting too high.

The first thing he did was slowly descend. He coughed as he passed through the clouds again, accidentally inhaling them. When he saw land, he looked for the nearest place close to the sea. So he flew slowly to his right. His flight was wobbly as he tried to fly like every other hero would, but he needed experience flying like that since it was the most efficient shape.

After about 20 minutes, he finally arrived. He was floating in the air, looking at the sea. He took a deep breath and descended slowly into the water, but he didn't stop. He went as far as he could to the bottom of the sea.

Mark started looking at himself, feeling the water pressure and the coldness of the deep water. It felt very heavy. Feeling this, he decided to start training. He began shadow fighting, practicing any martial arts he knew from watching social media. He unconsciously followed Bas Rutten's fighting stance and style since he had watched a lot of Bas Rutten videos on martial arts in the past.

Mark was so into it that he began moving however felt natural. His movements felt very slow as he threw punches and kicks. But he didn't stop. He only stopped when he got tired, but he didn't feel the need to quit because the trust he had in his physiology kept him going. But as soon as he saw sunlight lighting up the sea, he knew time was up.

He flew up, ascending until he saw the sun beginning to rise. He flew straight back home, and on the way back, his clothes dried up because of the speed he was going.

It took him some time to find where his home was. When he finally returned, he entered through his bedroom window. Removing his clothes, he decided to take a shower. While heading to the bathroom, his father, who was up early, was surprised to see Mark awake so early. Nolan smelled something out of place from Mark.

"Did you go to the sea?"

"Yeah."

Mark went inside the bathroom to clean himself again since he didn't feel clean. He just used the cold shower since it didn't really affect him anymore. When he finished his shower, he got ready for school and finally decided to do whatever homework was left.

"I fucking hate school. I wish this could end sooner so I can focus on my training."

Mark went to school like normal and acted like a good student, but he wasn't. He fell asleep in class and found as much time as possible to get some rest. After a few naps, he woke up energized. Despite that, he barely listened to the lessons because they were boring. When school finally ended, he quickly left and headed to the Baltimore Martial Arts Center to learn martial arts.

He paid for a one-month membership, which was about $100. He chose the priciest class because he basically told them to make him a great MMA fighter, and they agreed. Right after the learning session, Mark headed back home. After dinner, he went back to the same underwater location to train without stopping until sunrise.

This was his routine for three days. It was very boring doing the same thing, especially the training part, but he decided to stick with it since he needed to prepare for the future fight against his father and future enemies.

The routine changed when the weekend came. Early in the morning, Nolan knocked on Mark's door wearing his Omni-Man suit. But when he opened the door, Mark was not there.

"Where did he go?" Omni-Man wondered, since he expected Mark to be ready to train.

But then Mark finally arrived and entered through the window, smelling of sea water just like usual. He was slightly yawning, but as soon as he saw his father in the suit, he said, "Let's go," and left back through the window and flew away.

Omni-Man followed suit, but then he passed Mark who was flying. He glanced at him and said, "Follow me. I know a place where I can teach you."

They flew to a location with open space, a green field with no people. On the way there, Omni-Man began teaching him how to fly properly. Mark listened to him and nodded the whole way there.

When they arrived, Omni-Man landed perfectly on the ground, but Mark was slightly hesitant. He stopped too early before reaching the ground and simply descended the rest of the way.

"Mark, stop hesitating," Omni-Man advised him.

"Got it," Mark nodded, agreeing with Omni-Man's observation.

"But it seems like you already have a pretty good grasp of your power. I don't think you need my help with anything," Omni-Man noted after watching Mark's speed and slowing. The only slight problem was his landing.

"You can still help me with fighting using the power," Mark brought up a great point. Even if he had great control over his power, if he got into a fight, he would be absolutely demolished by someone with more experience.

"Alright, I can teach you that," Omni-Man agreed to help his son. In his mind, he thought his son must want to be a hero.

"Don't hold back at all. I need to see how well I fare against an experienced hero, Dad." Mark put his guard up, ready to throw hands against his father.

With no warning, Omni-Man moved far faster than Mark could react. He punched straight into Mark's chest, pushing him back. Mark managed to stay on the ground, but the punch pushed him quite far.

Mark fell onto his knees and began coughing violently. This was the first time he had ever felt a serious punch straight to his chest. He felt winded after receiving that punch.

A few tears fell from Mark's eyes, but he got up, pushed through it, and wiped his eyes as he said with confidence, "Again."

Omni-Man was proud. He grinned, seeing his son still standing even after receiving that punch straight to the chest.
