Chapter 16 - Chapter 16 — The First Fallen Eagle

Global — Midnight Silence

The world slept.

Cities dim.

Markets closed.

War zones quiet.

But beneath that silence—

A storm was forming.

Not loud.

Not visible.

But precise.

Calculated.

Personal.

Unknown Location — The Opponent

The man stood in front of a single screen.

Unlike before—

No multiple feeds.

No systems.

Only one face.

Naya Smith.

The Protector.

"…You rely on strength."

A pause.

"…On instinct."

He tilted his head slightly.

"…That makes you predictable."

His finger tapped once.

A signal sent.

"…Let's remove the shield."

Cut.

China — Night — Protection Unit Zone

Rain poured heavily.

Training ground empty.

Naya stood alone.

Eyes closed.

Listening.

Feeling.

The environment.

Every movement.

Every breath.

Then—

Her eyes opened.

"…You're here."

Silence.

Then—

Footsteps.

Not one.

Not two.

Many.

From the shadows—

Figures emerged.

Not normal attackers.

Not amateurs.

Silent.

Coordinated.

Deadly.

Omar bin Siddiqui appeared beside her.

"Unknown units detected."

Naya cracked her neck slightly.

"…Good."

A pause.

"I was waiting."

Battle Begins

The attackers moved instantly.

Fast.

Too fast.

Gunfire erupted.

Close combat followed.

Naya moved like a weapon.

Every strike—

Precise.

Every movement—

Lethal.

Enemies dropped.

One by one.

But—

They didn't stop.

They adapted.

Changed formation.

Adjusted timing.

Omar noticed.

"…They're learning."

Naya's eyes narrowed.

"…No."

A pause.

"…They already know."

Cut.

Cyber Network — Wang

Screens flashing violently.

Khalid shouted—

"We're under heavy intrusion!"

Wang typed rapidly.

"…Track source!"

Pause.

"…No signal."

Silence.

"…Impossible."

Cut.

Wall Street — Matthew

Matthew stood still.

Phone in hand.

"Something's wrong," he muttered.

Rafiq looked at him.

"…What?"

Matthew's eyes narrowed.

"…This isn't a normal attack."

Cut.

United States — Presidential Office

Will stood at the chessboard.

One piece—

Shaking slightly in his hand.

Albert spoke—

"Multiple disruptions detected."

Will didn't respond.

"…No."

A pause.

"This is focused."

Back to Battlefield — Naya

Rain mixed with blood.

Bodies everywhere.

But—

The attackers still stood.

Not all.

But enough.

One stepped forward.

Different.

Calm.

Controlled.

Leader.

"…You fight well," he said.

Naya didn't respond.

"…But you're too direct."

Silence.

"…And that makes you predictable."

Naya attacked instantly.

Fast.

Deadly.

But—

He blocked.

Perfectly.

Countered.

Equally fast.

Omar froze.

"…He matched her."

Naya stepped back.

For the first time—

She hesitated.

"…Who are you?" she asked.

The man smiled slightly.

"…Someone who studied you."

Fight Intensifies

Their movements—

Perfect mirror.

Strike.

Block.

Counter.

No advantage.

No weakness.

Then—

A small mistake.

Not big.

But enough.

The man moved.

Faster.

Sharper.

A blade flashed.

Silence.

Naya froze.

Omar's eyes widened.

"…No…"

Blood dropped.

Slowly.

Naya looked down.

A wound.

Deep.

Critical.

The man stepped back.

"…Game over."

He turned.

Walked away.

The remaining attackers disappeared.

Like shadows.

Gone.

Rain continued.

Omar rushed forward.

"Naya!"

She fell to her knees.

Breathing heavy.

Vision fading.

"…So…"

A weak voice.

"…this is how it ends."

Omar shook his head.

"No! Stay with me!"

She smiled faintly.

"…Tell him…"

A pause.

"…I didn't lose."

Silence.

"…I was outplayed."

Her eyes closed.

Stillness.

Cut.

Global Reaction

Wang stopped typing.

"…No."

Matthew froze.

"…Impossible."

Lei stood still.

Eyes dark.

"…He took one."

United States — Presidential Office

Will dropped the chess piece.

It hit the board.

Hard.

"…He sacrificed nothing."

A pause.

"…And took one of ours."

Albert lowered his head.

"…Orders?"

Silence.

Long.

Heavy.

Then—

Will spoke.

Cold.

Dangerous.

"…We don't respond."

Albert froze.

"…What?"

Will's voice dropped—

"…We destroy him."

Cut.

Unknown Location — The Opponent

The man stood calmly.

Watching.

"…One piece removed."

A pause.

"…Balance broken."

He sat down.

Moved a chess piece.

"…Your move…"

Final Scene — John Smith

John stood alone.

Eyes closed.

Silent.

Then—

He opened them.

For the first time—

Not calm.

Not controlled.

Something else.

"…You killed one of mine."

A pause.

"…Good."

His voice dropped—

Dark.

Cold.

Unforgiving.

"…Now I stop playing."

Final Hook

All remaining Eagles received one message.

Not from the enemy.

From John.

"No more defense."

"Total elimination begins."

Far away—

The opponent smiled.

"…Finally."
