Chapter 34 - Chapter 34 — Duo

The moment they landed—

Chaos swallowed them.

Not gradually.

Not slowly.

Instantly.

Screams tore through the air.

Broken roads cracked beneath heavy impacts.

Blood stained the street.

Fresh.

Dark.

Still spreading.

Yokai rushed from every direction.

No pattern.

No hesitation.

Just hunger.

Rishiro moved first.

The chainsaw roared to life—

VRRRRRRR—

Loud.

Violent.

Unforgiving.

One slash—

A yokai split apart instantly.

No resistance.

No delay.

Another leaped from the side—

Teeth bared.

Claws stretched.

He turned—

And tore straight through it.

No wasted motion.

No pause.

Beside him—

Kenta landed lightly.

Controlled.

Balanced.

A blade in each hand.

Sharp.

Clean.

Precise.

For a second—

They stood back to back.

Rishiro—

Torn black shirt.

Calm eyes.

That same lazy expression—

Somehow making him look even more dangerous.

Kenta—

Neat stance.

Twin blades low.

That confident grin—

Like he already owned the battlefield.

"…Try not to slow me down," Rishiro said.

Kenta smirked.

"…You say that like you can keep up."

More came.

Teeth.

Claws.

Shadows.

They moved at the same time.

Perfectly.

Without planning.

Without speaking.

Rishiro stepped forward—

Cut low.

Kenta turned—

Sliced high.

One covered the blind spot.

The other filled the gap.

No trust.

No teamwork.

Just—

Instinct.

Just—

Rhythm.

Then—

The chainsaw stuttered.

VR—VRR—

Rishiro's eyes narrowed slightly.

"…Tch."

He forced one more swing.

One more kill.

Then—

CRACK

The blade snapped.

The engine died.

Silence—

For half a second.

A yokai lunged straight at him.

Rishiro stepped back—

And something dropped beside him.

A weapon.

Perfect timing.

He caught it without looking.

A sword.

But—

Wrong.

The shape resembled a katana—

But the blade—

Jagged.

Rough.

Mechanical.

Like a chainsaw had been forged into steel.

Rishiro glanced sideways.

Kenta stood there.

Grinning.

"…I would've given you that if you'd joined me."

A pause.

His smirk widened.

"…But for now—take it, Mr. Liar."

Rishiro looked at the weapon once.

Then at him.

A faint grin appeared.

"…You talk too much."

He swung.

VRR—SHRRK

The jagged blade ripped through the next yokai instantly.

Cleaner than expected.

Faster than it looked.

"…Not bad," Rishiro muttered.

Kenta shrugged.

"…Obviously."

Then—

The air changed.

Again.

Cold.

Heavy.

Wrong.

Not like before.

This was—

Focused.

Intentional.

Two figures stepped out from the chaos.

Slowly.

Calmly.

Watching.

Their eyes moved over the two boys.

Over Rishiro—

His lean frame.

Torn clothes.

The way he held the jagged blade like it belonged to him.

Over Kenta—

His posture.

His control.

His confidence.

Futakuchi-onna's lips curved slowly.

"…Ara."

A soft laugh escaped her.

Light.

Amused.

"…I didn't know we were going to get hotties tonight."

Yuki-onna smiled faintly beside her.

Cold.

Elegant.

"…A rare sight."

Kenta rolled one shoulder.

Loose.

Relaxed.

His grin never left.

"…You follow gender equality too, right, Mr. Liar?"

Rishiro adjusted his grip on the jagged blade.

His stance lowered slightly.

"…Of course."

A pause.

His grin sharpened.

"…Why wouldn't I?"

Kenta laughed.

Low.

Excited.

Then—

Both of them lunged.

Above—

On the rooftop—

The others could only watch.

Aiko's face had gone pale.

Her body slightly shaking.

Daichi stared below.

Eyes wide.

"…They're insane…"

Hikari didn't look away.

Not even for a second.

Her eyes tracked everything.

Movement.

Timing.

Patterns.

"…No."

A brief pause.

"…They're monsters."

Maru clicked her tongue.

"…Tch."

Then—

She moved.

Jumped.

Without hesitation.

"…Oi—!"

Daichi cursed—

And followed after her.

Mid-air—

Maru shouted back—

"…Hikari, stay here!"

Hikari didn't move.

Didn't respond.

She just—

Watched.

Eyes sharp.

Focused.

Learning.

Then—

From the opposite side—

Another figure dropped in.

Fast.

Energetic.

"…Boss! Wait for me too!"

He landed beside Kenta with a wide grin.

Full of excitement.

Tatsuma.

Kenta glanced at him once.

"…You're late."

Tatsuma laughed loudly.

"…Had to clean up the trash first!"

He stepped forward eagerly.

Energy radiating off him.

"…Let's go, boss!"

Below—

The battlefield grew louder.

More violent.

More chaotic.

The clash had only just begun.

And the night—

Only grew louder.
