Chapter 131 - Chapter 131: Are Our Origins Getting Too Complicated?

The Chaos warship thundered ceaselessly under the momentum of Sith's pursuit of Abaddon.

When the other vessels realized Sith's sole target was Abaddon's death, they scattered outright.

Many even chose to break formation entirely, preparing to flee the battlefield.

With fewer and fewer ships left to serve as footing and his blessings dwindling, Abaddon was forced to turn and attempt to confront Sith several times.

But the result...

The onlooking factions could only watch as Sith, gripping the horn atop Abaddon's head, ignored the Bolter fire Abaddon desperately poured into him. He pressed Abaddon's face against the ship's outer hull, grinding it across the armor plating.

After all, while Abaddon's blessings were running out, Sith's were an endless flow!

As Sith lifted Abaddon's bloodied face, preparing to grind the other side...

Seeing his point-blank fire utterly ineffective against Sith, Abaddon finally lowered his weapon.

His eyes then glared at Sith, a ferocious laughter twisting his features:

"Do you really think those so-called gods are any good?"

"While you're busy eliminating the Corpse Emperor's enemies, his lackeys are dispatching fleets to hunt you down!"

Sith's movements paused slightly. Seeing this, a vindictive gleam returned to Abaddon's eyes, as if witnessing Sith being 'abandoned' by the Imperium.

"You think the Imperium owes you anything for your service?"

"Don't be naive. The Imperium would never tolerate a human who consorts with Orks and accepts blessings from the Dark Gods."

"Right now, a full sub-fleet from Guilliman's Indomitus Crusade is probably already on its way to exterminate you and your Mortal followers!"

Abaddon spoke relentlessly. Among the eyes watching from the Warp, only the God-Emperor reacted with fury directed at Tzeentch. The other eyes paused momentarily before instantly blazing with fervent, intensified 'affection' as they gazed upon Sith.

And Sith indeed halted for a moment, digesting this news.

Seizing what he thought was his chance, Abaddon suddenly drew his daemon sword and slashed at Sith!

But the blessings from the gods, which had plateaued, upon learning Sith had been branded a traitor by the Imperium, began to surge with renewed, frantic intensity!

The Gods: Sith isn't part of the Imperial faction anymore? Why the hell didn't you say so sooner?!

Abaddon's daemon sword was repelled by a surge of divine radiance before it could even strike.

In the wake of this radiance, the God-Emperor, realizing the situation, had no time to devise a way to bypass the Four Gods and warn Guilliman. Instead, he redoubled his efforts, pouring even more blessings upon Sith.

The intensity of this blessing was so immense that even with his hundredfold amplification, Sith felt for the first time an uncomfortable sensation of being overwhelmed, as if his body might burst.

And in response to this discomfort, the Emperor's brilliant golden light finally overwhelmed the glow of the other gods!

Abaddon watched, his face a mask of Suppressed anger surpassing his earlier vindication. Despite his efforts—both verbal and treacherous—not only was Sith still unharmed, but the divine light around him had grown even more absurd. The Sith before him seemed to have transformed into a golden sun.

What's going on?

Why, after my words...

are these Warp beings suddenly so much more generous?!

Abaddon couldn't comprehend it. But feeling the surging power of the Emperor's blessing within him, Sith began to understand.

Shifting his focus away from the impending Indomitus Crusade fleet, Sith once again grabbed the horn on Abaddon's head and slammed it with even greater force against the ship's armor plating!

As he ground Abaddon's face across the metal, he spoke:

"We'll discuss that after I've finished beating the crap out of you!"

He repeated the initial action. But this time, in the eyes of outsiders, Sith had truly become the God-Emperor's unique Chosen.

At least, to the Ecclesiarchy Priest and others like Van Roth, Sith, now radiating only golden light, was a profoundly reassuring sight.

Facing an opponent he couldn't harm and a situation he couldn't prolong, a ruthless finally flashed in Abaddon's eyes as his face was ground against the plating.

Having silently renewed some desperate bargain with the gods in his heart, Abaddon, after a moment of concentration, produced a strange fragment and stabbed it like a dagger at Sith.

This time, despite the gods' blessings, the fragment pierced Sith's body.

The sudden attack brought with it a surge of power completely unlike that of the gods.

Though this alien power was quickly suppressed by the divine blessings, Sith finally staggered from the impact.

Seizing the opportunity, Abaddon's body flared with the light of the Four Gods and another, distinct power belonging to Vashtorr. He vanished into thin air.

Even as he fled, Abaddon tried to reclaim the fragment, but Sith, reacting swiftly, forcibly kept it.

Along with the horn from Abaddon's head that Sith had been gripping all along.

It all happened in an instant. The mysterious fragment, the Four Gods' unwillingness to let Sith die—or, before Sith's arrival, to let Abaddon die—combined with certain life-preserving artifacts Vashtorr had given Abaddon. These three factors together enabled his escape from Sith's grasp.

Though Sith had known from the start that as long as he didn't openly pledge himself to Chaos, the Four Gods wouldn't let Abaddon perish, he still clenched his unsatisfied fists slightly, a hint of regret on his face.

He casually stored away Abaddon's horn, planning to taunt him with it periodically in the future.

Then, his gaze fell upon the mysterious fragment that had so easily pierced his armor at his waist.

After all, even beaten to such a state, Abaddon had still been desperate to retrieve this fragment before fleeing.

He pulled it out forcefully, the fragment drawing forth a trickle of blood.

The hideous wounds healed visibly as Nurgle eagerly bestowed his blessing, and his armor was restored to wholeness under the golden light.
