"Kikyo, have you heard of 'Peach Blossom Spring'?" After bidding farewell to the villagers who had warmly tried to persuade them to stay, the two were riding on Kuro Maru's back. Just as Kikyo was about to guide Kuro Maru back to the shrine, Retsu's question suddenly came from behind her.
"No." After carefully thinking for a moment, she gently shook her head. She turned to look at him, her eyes filled with curiosity. "Why? Is this Peach Blossom Spring something special?"
"Hmm, it's said to be connected to legendary sages." Retsu didn't hide anything and told her honestly.
"Sages?" Kikyo was taken aback upon hearing this, her tone carrying a touch of disbelief. "Do sages truly exist in this world?"
"They probably do, but they might not be exactly like what we imagine." Retsu couldn't be entirely certain either about what exactly a "sage" in the Inuyasha World was.
In Inuyasha, there are actually quite a few things related to sages.
Besides the Peach Blossom Spring we're looking for now, which contains a sage master who was turned into a potted plant by his disciple, Peach Fruit Person.
There's also the fallen sage-turned-demon, Nisekosen, from the manga storyline.
Additionally, the cauldron of resonance from the movie *Inuyasha the Movie: Fire on the Mystic Island* seems to have intricate connections to sages as well.
"Let's not return to the shrine just yet." Retsu composed himself and said, "From what I know, Peach Blossom Spring is somewhere nearby. I want to search for it."
"I'm very curious about what the difference is between their so-called'sage' and my Sage Mode."
"Alright, I'll follow your lead." Kikyo nodded gently, agreeing to his plan.
Truth be told, she herself harbored some curiosity about the legendary "sage."
Although he didn't know the exact location of Peach Blossom Spring, Retsu remembered two key features.
First, on the cliff where Peach Blossom Spring is located, there grows a demonic tree that bears human face fruit. Second, Peach Fruit Person has a shard of the shikon jewel inside his body.
In the storyline, Inuyasha's group discovered a large number of human face fruits floating downstream in a river below a cliff, which led them to track down Peach Blossom Spring.
Therefore, Retsu paid special attention to the surrounding terrain, focusing on high cliffs, especially those with rivers flowing below them.
"Whoosh—" A figure leaped out from the forest. It was Retsu.
Seeing the winding river ahead, he immediately quickened his pace and ran towards it.
"Hmm?" As he approached the riverbank, Retsu noticed some red fruits floating on the water's surface. His heart stirred, and he swiftly increased his speed.
Reaching the riverbank, he bent down and picked up a fruit drifting with the current. After examining it carefully, a look of joy instantly appeared on his face. "human face fruit! Found it!"
The fruit looked like a large, plump peach, but it lacked the fresh, sweet aroma of a peach. Instead, it emitted a faint smell of decay.
