Chapter 36 - Chapter 36

1st Pov Xicor Samiel:

1 Days Later:

"How the hell is that possible?!" Rairen shouted in frustration as he clutched a controller, staring at the screen that said, 'Winner Player 1'

The game was an old fighter game I'd never seen before. I mean, some of the characters looked familiar, but it wasn't the same; it was something I could look past and enjoy.

So far it's 3 to 1 in my favour. I gave the god a cheeky grin as I leaned closer to him, but I couldn't get far, as Shikoku was sitting on me, sideways, resting her head on my shoulder with a soft smile plastered on her lips.

"I know why" I said with a cheeky grin.

"Don't you dare say it" he gritted.

My grin grew as I said two words, "skill issue"

I heard his teeth grind, but he didn't lash out at me because of the goddess on my lap. Rairen selected his character, a buff man.

And I selected the one I just selected for the shits and giggles at the start, a damn brown bear with a cap.

"This time I'll definitely destroy you" Rairen said with confidence.

I glanced at him and was about to open my mouth but decided against commenting on it. He had said the same thing for the last 3 losses.

The game did its intros for the characters and we both gave the screen our full focus by leaning forward slightly, no words were needed as we knew what must be done.

Fight until one of us complains about it.

The initial start was in my favour I landed blow after blow as Rairen struggled to counter, with both of us being almost beginners on this game some of our attacks didn't land as intended, so we mainly tested the roots of our skills.

The range.

The timing.

The risks.

And determine if it can continue a combo or if it ends it. I picked up several moves I can somewhat use but would need practice and Rairen just went with the flow and learned while fighting, which is a very risky thing to do.

Behind us, Jouryuu watched with crossed arms and her eyes watched the game, her eyes would flicker around to each attack we threw.

Not too far Kuusetsu watched from my side as she let out gurgles of curiosity and hopped on the spot.

As we play, my mind drifts to two things that are on my mind.

Mahoroga.

And the 7th unit.

For the divine general, it's just where I could fight him. The training ground is durable but against a Shikigami that can adapt to all phenomena is a case of whether I can kill him before he destroys it all.

But with my current strength and with Sukuna's shrine at 100%, confident I can kill him before he adapts. The best option is to attack by encasing both of us in a domain and using the Divine flame, to immediately kill him before he adapts.

For the 7th unit, there's a strange feeling about them, mainly around the white-haired woman and the boy but the whole unit has a strange pull about them, almost like fate is bound by them.

From what I've observed so far, they've been mediocre but the strange pull hasn't diminished in the slightest.

I shake my head and quickly finish the game as taming the divine general is a big backup factor I will have if the human god descends.

And with my techniques of various elements and attacks, I could have him adapt to something he already has before they could figure out his ability.

The fight grew more and more intense until I landed the final blow, resulting in my win for the fourth time.

"God Dammit!!" he shouted as Shikoku jolted slightly from the noise, her eyes open as she glared daggers at the god beside me but he seemed to ignore it or didn't even notice as his focus was on the screen.

I put down the controller as I scoop the goddess on my lap next to me as I stand up to leave the room, "Where are you going?" Shikoku asked curiously.

"Yeah, get back here, I want a rematch!" Rairen shouted but I ignored him.

"...Just going to fight someone powerful, who will become a valuable ally once I defeat him"

I said.

"Can I watch?" she asked but immediately shook my head, it's too risky to have anyone near our battle as they'll become collateral damage.

"No, but you can view using the screens connected to my birds" I said.

Shikoku pouted but I ignored it and walked out of the room to the training ground. My body felt heavy for some reason and my steps were slightly awkward.

Is this an effect of the divine general's influence over people?

I shake my head and continue forward until the familiar area of the rocky training ground is revealed to me.

Each mock battle that has happened here was a testament to my rise in power and now I'm gonna use it to fight a demigod with the potential to likely tear reality apart if he gets the chance.

I move deep into the training ground, gaining distance away from the exit of this place I move to a spot where the environment gives multiple places to manoeuvre around more easily.

As I finished my survey I spotted my birds in the distance flying aimlessly, they must be watching so I'd better give them a good show.

I take a deep intake of air and exhale it, my body twitches with excitement as adrenaline slowly courses through my veins at the response of the moment of a general descending on the mortal plane.

I bring my arms up with clenched hands, my grip tightened slightly as I began the chant.

"With this treasure, I summon" The environment completely changed to a black void with ghosts of Toads and demon dogs, forming a 'V' shaped formation as the demon dogs howled out through the dark.

"Eight-handled Sword Divergent sila" a large white cocoon appeared behind me, the air around it was overwhelming, almost like it's bending the knee to the one they see as a true lord.

"Divine General, Mahoraga" the cocoon exploded as I immediately leapt from my previous spot as a massive white hand came crashing down on my spot.

Standing tall in front of me is a pale humanoid Shinigami with 4 small wings in place of its eyes and a long tail coming out of the back of its head.

On top of its head is the most eye-catching trait this Shikigami possesses, a large dharma wheel floating above its head, the wheel twitches slightly, almost tasting for anything to adapt to.

Coming out of a set of dirty bandages is a long, sharp blade. The blade was the sword of extermination, a specialised blade that is passively coated in possible energy, a complete counter to cursed spirits.

The most terrifying thing about this blade is that it is a part of Mahorga, meaning that it will respond to his adaptation and create attacks for him to use.

Exuding so much raw physical power, its body was forged to become a weapon to annihilate the weak and test the strong if they were worthy to become one of the strongest as he is the absolute judge.

I was about to immediately activate Malevolent Shrine but Mahorga was already on top of me as he brought down, kicking up dust upon impact.

He won't let me get the opportunity to open my domain, so I'll need to distract him as I open my domain.

I launch myself forward as I punch the Shinigami in the chest, and he pushes back. He doesn't stagger in the slightest as he leaps forward and thrusts his fist forward.

I sidestep his attack thrust my fist into his stomach, striking him with Ratio as he was launched back.

Mahoraga's wheel twitches before doing a spin, a sign that he's adapting to Ratio or something else entirely.

I create 4 clones with 2 having a technique applied to them as their only purpose is to hold him in place for me to open my domain.

The clone rushes forward in a formation. The divine general locks onto one of them as he blurs at the clone and smacks him away with the back of his hand before using his free hand to stop another clone's attack.

Mahoraga was about to attack but his entire body froze as a pair of large eyes looked down on him, not too far is clone with his hands shot forward pointing at the Shikigami.

The wheel turns again.

Mahoraga's response wasn't adapting but the use of his physical strength as his body vibrated under the pressure of forceful movement.

He lifted his hands up and lightly pushed against the eyes as they broke under the pressure. With the pressure gone from his body, Mahoraga launches himself forward and slices the clone within a second.

He was about to leap at me but his limbs were restricted by water which leaves him completely open.

I use projection sorcery to appear within the range of the general as my hands form the familiar of absolute dread.

"Domain Expansion: Malevolent Shrine"

The words echoed through the air around us as everything went black before the floor changed to blood and behind me was a grotesque Buddhist shrine with 4 large human mouths.

The water around Mahoraga has completely vanished with the domain cutting the connection with the clone.

He was inches from me before countless dismantles and cleaves attacked the air, turning the divine general into nothing but his regeneration kept going and going as his wheel spun again and again for the fourth time.

I didn't want to guess what he was adapting to as my hands ignited with flames and a maniacal grin grew on my face.

"Tell me divine general, am I worthy now to become noticed as one of the strongest?!" I shouted, but the question was neither answered nor acknowledged as his wheel spun again.

"Open" I echoed through the domain as the air grew thick and warmer. The flames danced around as I continued to form a shape.

My left arm was stretched forward and my right was held back, like I was ready with my bow, which I literally were.

Mahorga stood up as he began to walk through the onslaught of slashes being thrown at him.

My eyes open wide in surprise, his figure is akin to that of a true demigod. For a moment I was dumbstruck by how amazing he is.

The perfect concept of adaptation.

I shake my head quickly as I aim my fire arrow and launch it at the general as the barrier of the domain collapsed before a massive pillar of fire erupted in space directly in front of me.

I was pushed back by the shockwave as I held onto the ground. As everything subsides I walk to where the general was hit to find his wheel on the ground its movement was still and silent.

My shadow extended towards it as it sank into it, a sign that I have truly done it. I let out a breath I was holding as if he had adapted to whatever he was adapting to would have made this battle a lot harder.

A surge of cursed energy swelled through my body as my reserves once again increased.

I formed the familiar sign that I used to summon him, "Mahoraga" I called out as the shadow behind me extended and out came the man himself.

He stood tall and at attention, no crazy attacks, no wild behaviour, just obedience.

I let a satisfied smile crawl up my lips, "Let's get started on your adaptation" I said as flames coated my hand.

1st Pov Kyouka Uzen:

Walking out of the train cart I was in with Yuuki Wakura, my slave, the person necessary for the growth of my abilities, the bright and warm sunlight landed on my skin and combined with the soft wind, it had quite a calming effect on me on this particular day.

We continue to walk for a while with light chatter between us, as we grew closer to the graveyard for the lives lost from my village I spot several familiar figures buying flowers.

As we grew closer I immediately recognised them, it's the other survivors of the village's massacre.

The Kazumas, the people who took in Xicor.

And my best friend who was saved by Xixor, Mariko.

Each has solemn expressions, compared to my stoic one. As we drew closer they noticed us and gave a slight nod as they moved forward into the graveyard.

"Lady Kyo, do you know those people?" Yuuki asked curiously.

I glanced at him and nodded, the words that were about to come out were stuck in my throat, it's difficult to accept someone's death and on the scale of a village is still difficult to this day after so many years.

I look around curiously, but there is no sign of Yami, which is strange since he's usually around when it comes to an event like this.

I shake my head and press forward as I watch the Kazumas and Mariko walk down a set of stone steps that lead up to a large stone grave, signifying the spot where I usually pray to their peaceful sleep.

I set my own set of flowers next to the others as I kneel to pray.

If your dead Xicor, I hope you rest peaceful as I fight on.

But if you're alive then I will do everything in my power to find you and bring you back from that hellish dimension.
