Chapter 142 - Chapter 142: Is Everyone Alive?

"It's been a long time, how have you been lately?"

Luke looked at Hiiragi Shinya with a beaming smile, his tone full of warmth.

If Hiiragi Shinya hadn't been hanging upside down, he might have almost thought he and Luke were very close friends.

"You'd better kill me today, or I will definitely avenge Guren!"

Hiiragi Shinya's eyes were filled with rage.

As an adopted son of the Hiiragi Family, he had never experienced a shred of human kindness there; everyone had to prove their worth to be valued.

Meeting Guren over eight years ago changed things. Guren's attitude toward him made him curious; Guren didn't suck up to him or fear him just because of his status as a Hiiragi.

Coupled with fighting side-by-side and sharing life-and-death situations later on, Shinya was influenced by Guren and came to view him as precious family.

And his most important family member had been killed by this bastard Vampire in front of him!

Krul found Hiiragi Shinya a bit noisy and kicked him in the stomach.

Hiiragi Shinya curled up, hanging there like a silkworm cocoon, unable to speak.

Krul gave a cold snort and turned to Luke.

"Don't waste so many words. Once they're beaten into submission, all problems are solved."

Luke looked at the pained Hiiragi Shinya, then at Bastia, who was stuck in the wall without a sound. He gulped, gave a thumbs up, and praised, "I've learned something!"

Krul rolled her eyes at Luke's frightened look.

As if you're any gentler when you strike.

Krul looked around, her gaze finally landing on the passage leading deeper inside.

"Lord Urd should be inside."

With that, she headed in.

Although Luke still wanted to chat with Hiiragi Shinya for a bit, he naturally had to follow since Krul was leaving.

Patting Hiiragi Shinya's face, Luke smiled.

"Don't miss me too much. It's halftime. After the commercials, we'll con~tin~ue~"

Unexpectedly, Hiiragi Shinya twisted his head, dodged Luke's hand, and then bared his fangs, biting down hard on Luke's hand.

"Wok!"

Krul looked at Luke as he walked in with his hands behind his back, sensing something was off.

"What's wrong with you?"

"Ah? I... I'm fine. Let's go, let's find Lord Urd."

Luke's expression was a bit flustered. He jogged up to Krul and pushed her forward, trying to change the subject.

Despite this, Krul sniffed the air. She immediately recognized the scent—it was the smell of Luke's blood!

Looking at the hand Luke reached out to push her with, Krul saw a Vampire bite mark on it that hadn't fully healed yet.

Krul was certain that bite mark hadn't been there just now. With a little thought, she guessed that Luke must have been bitten while acting like a jerk in front of Hiiragi Shinya.

As she was pushed along by Luke, Krul had a smile on her lips and asked knowingly.

"Your hand seems to be injured."

"Ah... I was hungry, I bit it myself."

"Couldn't be that you got served while acting like a jerk, right?"

"..."

Luke remained silent. Krul looked back at his expression, and the smile on her lips grew even wider.

Krul felt refreshed. Even though he was her boyfriend, this guy deserved to learn a few more lessons!

With those thoughts, Krul and Luke finally found Urd.

Urd had long since heard the commotion outside. His eyes remained fixed on the door until he saw the two of them walk in, then Urd stood up.

"How did you get out? Are Lest Karr and Guren not with you?"

Urd didn't know that Luke and Krul had come out through the dimensional gun a step ahead of him; he assumed they had dug their way out.

And the two people who were ahead of them should have been out even earlier.

Krul gave a casual explanation and prepared to release Urd. They were separated by a layer of transparent glass.

The door on the side had been locked tight due to the intrusion of outsiders. The lock was flashing red, and for the time being, even a key couldn't open it.

Krul threw a kick, and the glass made a loud bang, but it didn't shatter.

"Does the Hyakuya Sect have a Materials Engineering major?"

Luke was a little surprised. After all, even if Krul hadn't used her full strength, that kick wasn't something ordinary glass could withstand.

Krul didn't believe it and kicked again, but she still didn't succeed this time.

Krul glanced at Luke, signaling for him to try.

Luke was also somewhat interested. He first touched it with his hand; it was very smooth, but he couldn't feel any difference from other glass.

Bang!

Luke couldn't kick it open either. Urd just watched them quietly from inside as they tried to break the glass.

Becoming impatient, Luke pulled out his magic sword, intending to cleave the glass open.

Fortunately, the magic sword was sharp enough. Although it took some effort, he finally rescued Urd.

After helping Urd undo his shackles, Krul and Luke's goal was considered achieved.

"What are you still looking at that broken glass for? Let's go! We need to find the Progenitor!"

Luke caught up and asked Urd with a smile.

"Which side are we helping?"

Urd remained silent, ignoring Luke.

Luke was a bit dissatisfied.

Staying silent to act like a pro?

Actually, Luke didn't care which side Urd took, because both the Progenitor and Rig still held sin keys. As long as he obtained those two sin keys, he would only need to wait for the final Seraph to appear. Then, he could rely on the power of the seven sin keys to reshape Ashera and Kyle's bodies, and he could complete the ultimate mission of this world.

Thinking of this, Luke suddenly felt a bit of fear.

Looking at Krul's figure, a trace of worry rose in his heart. He didn't know if Krul would be reset and forget him once his ultimate mission was completed... Krul seemed to sense something; she turned her head and met Luke's eyes, which were filled with complex emotions.

"What's wrong?"

Luke smiled faintly and shook his head.

"Nothing. I suddenly wanted to kiss you and was wondering where to start."

Krul's ears turned red. She scolded him a few times and turned her head back, thinking Luke was joking again.

With no trace of Rig for the moment, the three could only return to the "old site" of Sanguinem... "Damn it, why was Sanguinem built so deep? How long have we been digging, and we still haven't reached the surface!"

Lest Karr complained for the umpteenth time.

Guren, on the other hand, was digging dutifully, his trademark smile seemingly welded onto his face, even humming a little tune.

The irritable Lest Karr and the serene Guren formed a very sharp contrast.

But then, Guren's eyebrow arched. He heard a tapping sound coming from the other side of the wall.

He hurried to back away.

Lest Karr was in a foul mood and ignored the faint sound.

Seeing Guren back away, Lest Karr was a bit confused. Lest Karr's gaze focused on Guren, and Guren noticed Lest Karr as well, immediately lunging to his side and pulling Lest Karr back.

The sudden situation left Lest Karr unable to react in time.

Clang!

The sound was very loud. Lest Karr knew someone was coming from the other side and understood the meaning of Guren's actions.

Boom!

Sure enough, in the next second, the blocked passage was finally broken through.

"Yo, is everyone alive?"
